About the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute (ICJI) :
The Indiana Criminal Justice Institute (ICJI) is the State planning agency for criminal justice, juvenile justice, traffic safety, and victim services. The institute develops long-range strategies for the effective administration of Indiana's criminal and juvenile justice systems and administers state and federal funds to carry out these strategies.
The Indiana Criminal Justice Institute is the designated State Administering Agency for Federal Department of Justice, Office for Victims of Crime, Office of Violence Against Women, and Department of Health and Human Services grants within Indiana. These sources of funding are the largest sources of funding for local entities and agencies that provide direct services to victims of crime, including domestic violence and sexual assault.
Further, ICJI is responsible for coordinating and collaborating with local, state, and federal entities to identify, assess, plan, resource, and evaluate new and emerging issues facing the criminal justice and public safety spectrum. ICJI works with local, state, and federal entities to evaluate programs associated with the prevention, detection & solution of crimes; law enforcement, and criminal/juvenile justice, to improve and coordinate all aspects of law enforcement and criminal/juvenile justice. The agency evaluates policies, programs, and legislation designed to address these issues. ICJI is designated as the State Administering Agency for distribution of federal funds, and as the State Statistical Analysis Center for research About the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute (ICJI).
Role Overview:
The Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) is a nationwide census providing National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Congress, and the American public yearly data regarding fatal injuries suffered in motor vehicle traffic crashes. The data collected in FARS is crucial for understanding the scope of traffic fatalities, influencing safety regulations, and aiding in the development of safety programs. The FARS analyst is responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling the collection of confidential data.
Salary Statement:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $42,900.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
A Day in the Life:
The essential elements of the job duties:
Develop, organize and maintain design requests and preliminary design recommendations.
Research design and construction records for use in design projects in the construction programs.
Work with subject matter experts to coordinate responses to customer inquiries.
Assist in the evaluation of products used for INDOT's Approved Materials list.
Traffic Engineering Division:
May assist in the development of the Indiana Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices and the INDOT Traffic Engineering Investigations Manual and other traffic control policies.
Issue and maintain Commission Numbers and maintain and update database for the traffic control devices.
Quality Assurance Technician:
Perform Maintenance Quality Assurance reviews and advise the Maintenance Quality Supervisor of concerns and/or issues.
Collect and transmit Maintenance Quality Survey (MQS) information to the Manager.

What You'll Need for Success:
You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:
High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE).
A minimum of two (2) years' experience as a research analyst, graphic designer, engineering assistant, specification writer, or in another technical field. An Associate's degree may be substituted for work experience.
In-depth experience with Highway Maintenance activities and surveys.
Be willing to travel with reasonable accommodation.
Position may require experience with Electronic Records Management System (ERMS), MIP, MQS mapping, Work Management System (WMS), AutoCAD and Micro Station.
Must have proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, and Word).
Ability to research, abstract, compile, and summarize information to complete special assignments.
Ability to work with customers to assess needs, provide assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations.
Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
