Omni Pittsburgh Corporation DBA Omni William Penn Hotel, headquartered at 530 William Penn Place, Pittsburgh, PA 15219; phone number: +1(412) 553-5130, is seeking to fill three (3) (Kitchen) Cook positions from March 1st, 2026, to November 30th, 2026. This is for full-time, peak load, temporary employment.
Duties include: Cook will monitor and document random temperatures throughout each shift, control the quality, consistency, and visual appeal of all food served, and ensure that banquet production meets standards. They must be able to read, understand, and develop prep lists and requisitions from the B.E.O. to ensure timely product readiness. The worker is responsible for having all necessary food supplies available in appropriate quantities, assisting in controlling food costs, and learning all menu items produced in the kitchen. They should complete assigned work on prep sheets, produce banquets promptly according to the B.E.O., and follow sanitation and organization L.S.O.P.s. The worker must ensure the station is set for service 15 minutes prior and that all food supplies are in order for service. Responsibilities include refrigeration, maintaining hot and cold food temperatures, labeling and dating all food products, and executing setup and production of breakfast B.E.O. and banquets as instructed by supervisors.
Special Requirements: Position regularly involves lifting food cases and metros weighing up to 70 pounds. Pushing and pulling carts up to 500 pounds is required. Regular bending to lift items and supplies. Position requires standing for at least 75-80% of the day. Must have a valid ServSafe Certification, must be presented by the first day worked, and renewed on or before the expiration date throughout employment. Conversational English required. Must pass a post-employment criminal background check, paid by employer and applied equally to all workers, U.S. and foreign/H-2B. Workers are subject to reasonable and/or post-injury/incident drug-testing, paid by employer and applied equally to all workers, U.S. and foreign/H-2B.
The work schedule is as follows: 35 hours per week. Workdays vary Sunday--Saturday, with rotating shifts including 6:00am--2:30pm, 7:00am--3:30pm, 8:00am--4:30pm, 9:00am--5:30pm, 3:00pm--11:30pm, 4:00pm--12:30am, 10:00pm--6:30am, and 11:00pm--7:30am. The schedule rotates weekly based on business needs. All shifts are 8.5 hours, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. Job opportunity is a temporary, full-time position. The requested temporary workers will be based at 530 William Penn Place, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.
This position is governed by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). The basic wage rate is $18.15 per hour upon hire. After 3 months of continuous employment, the wage increases to $19.16 per hour; after 6 months, it increases to $20.17 per hour. Effective October 1, 2026, the base wage rate increases to $20.42 per hour. The employer may, at its discretion, provide wage increases based on experience, tenure, performance, market conditions, and/or as outlined in the CBA. Overtime hours may be available at $27.23 per hour. Effective October 1, 2026, overtime will be paid at $30.63 per hour. An overtime premium will be paid when Work performed by an employee in excess of eight hours in a workday (ten hours for employees working a four ten-hour workweek), 40 hours in any one workweek, or on the sixth or seventh day of work in the same workweek, shall be considered as overtime, and compensation shall be paid at the rate of one and one-half times his/her regular hourly rate, unless such sixth or seventh day is voluntary in order to secure more hours of work. Overtime at time and one-quarter shall be paid for all hours worked on the eighth consecutive day of work with time and one-half for hours worked on the ninth consecutive day of work, and double time on the tenth and continuing consecutive days (eleventh, twelfth, etc.) of work regardless of workweek. (These provisions for premium pay on a sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth and continuing consecutive days of work set forth in the CBA are waived for any employee requesting to work such a schedule.)
Single workweek will be used in computing wages due. Pay period is weekly. Employers will deduct all legally required amounts from workers' paychecks. Housing is available to the workers at a $200.00 weekly payroll deduction covering rent, all utilities, and furnishing. Housing is optional for the workers. The employer will make all deductions required by law. If any advances are given to workers, they will be deducted from their checks. Any willful destruction of property will also be deducted. Employer will provide on-the-job training. Uniform provided at no charge to the worker. Optional health insurance is available; cost varies depending on plan chosen and is payroll deducted if the employee elects to enroll. Public transportation is within walking distance of the worksite. Optional one meal during shift available at no cost to the employee.
Transportation, including meals and, to the extent necessary, lodging, to the place of employment will be provided, or its cost to workers reimbursed by a company check, separate from the payroll check, if the worker completes half of the employment period. If the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, employer will arrange and pay directly for transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, employer will provide or pay for worker's reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back to home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economically and reasonable common carrier for the distance involved. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of $16.28 per day during travel to a maximum of $68.00 per day with receipts. Reimbursement in the first work week for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government, incurred by the H-2B worker (but not included passport expenses or other charges primarily for the benefit of the worker). The employer will provide worker, at no charge, all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job and on the job training in the proper use of tools and equipment. The employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period only to the extent that this guarantee is enforced by the Department of Labor. As of the date of this posting, the three-fourths guarantee is not enforced, but this is subject to change.
