Information Technology Services (ITS) currently has one opening for anInformation Security Engineer Level IIposition in our Chinden office in Boise. This position provides critical, frontline, hands-on support in vulnerability management, cyber risk analysis, and security assessments. This position is part of a team that tests, implements, deploys, maintains, reviews, and administers infrastructure hardware and software that is required to effectively manage the computer network defenses and resources. This position's team also works to actively remediate known risks, misconfigurations, and audit findings to enhance the cybersecurity of the State of Idaho.

The selected individual must possess an in-depth knowledge of a wide range of Cybersecurity technologies as they will provide technical, operational, and project leadership as subject matter experts over the Cybersecurity Operations function in delivering 24/7/365 services. This position will undertake vulnerability and threat analysis, assist in action on known and imminent cyber threats, and maintain the overall effectiveness of the Idaho cyber operations by protecting, detecting and responding to cybersecurity threats both offensively and defensively.

Please note: The successful candidateMUST passa national level, fingerprint-based background check, including multiple agency specific background checks specific to handling of sensitive information related to CJIS, HIPPA, FTI, PCI and other information requiring a very high level of confidentiality.

Example of Duties:

Manages, implements, operates, and maintains advanced cybersecurity systems

Participates in cybersecurity risk finding remediation efforts.

Evaluates and recommends solutions and mitigation strategies related to cybersecurity operations.

Undertakes security related scans, daily monitoring alerts, and reporting on cyber related threats and attacks.

Assists in the management of system and network access control.

Assists in cybersecurity configuration auditing for policy and compliance adherence.

Minimum Qualifications:

Good knowledge of:

Cybersecurity incident response and handling methodologies.

Typically gained by at least two years of work experience in IT cybersecurity incident response and handling methodologies OR one year of work experience and two related college/vocational courses. Work experience should be within the last five years.

Authentication, authorization, and access control methods.

Typically gained by at least two years of work experience in network security OR one year of work experience and two college/vocational level courses covering security practices. Work experience should be within the last five years.

Vulnerability information dissemination sources (e.g., alerts, errata, and bulletins).

Typically gained by at least two years of professional work experience in network security OR one year of work experience and two college/vocational level courses covering security practices. Work experience should be within the last five years.

Common threats, vulnerabilities, and related mitigation strategies.

Typically gained by at least two years of work experience obtained within the last five years working in network security with routine responsibility monitoring and handling common threats, vulnerabilities, and related mitigation strategies OR one year of work experience and successful completion of at least two related college/vocational courses.

Experience:

Administering cryptography and cryptographic key management concepts.

Typically gained by at least two years of work experience with the management of cryptographic keys and protecting them from loss or misuse. This encompasses generating, using, storing, archiving, and deleting keys. Work experience should be within the last five years.
