Job Title: Applications EngineerJob Description

The Applications Engineer serves as the primary liaison between our organization and customers, focusing on understanding and fulfilling customer requests. The role involves creating quotes, offering solutions to meet customer needs, and conducting design reviews. This position supports the furniture industry, working mainly with foam, fiberglass, and polyester components that integrate into larger customer products. Responsibilities range from customer requests to product launch, including managing and occasionally building proto@types.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with customer engineers and procurement teams to review requests and assist in creating quotes using Excel.

Provide technical updates to customers regarding engineering changes, shipping dates, and project progress.

Read and assess drawings, providing feedback on tolerances, manufacturability, and feasibility of customer requests.

Conduct design reviews with customers.

Build proto@types using CNC equipment and program equipment with G-Code if experienced.

Manage the engineering request process by creating drawings, documentation, and performing quality checks.

Maintain and update CAD drawings throughout the product design and quoting process.

Essential Skills

Ability to read engineering drawings and work instructions.

2-4 years of experience in an engineering role with customer interface responsibilities.

Proficiency in CNC programming and G-Code.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in furniture manufacturing.

Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.

Work Environment

The work environment offers flexible hours, primarily operating from 7 AM to 4 PM. The role is based in an office setting with a standard 40-hour workweek, with occasional overtime if prototyping work is required. The company is small, with about 70 employees, including 15-20 in the office. The team operates within the Product Development and Business Development departments. Benefits include 8 holidays and negotiable PTO.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grand Rapids, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $48.08/hr.
