About the Opportunity:**

The Life Fitness / Hammer Strength Internship Program 2026 is now accepting applicants in their junior and senior year. We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team as summer interns. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Android Software Engineering, develop valuable skills, and contribute to Life Fitness / Hammer Strength\'s mission and goals. This intern will assist in the design, development, and testing of embedded Android software for next-generation fitness equipment. Contribute to the integration of Android-based applications to support the delivery of high-quality, user-focused experiences.

Successful applicants will be assigned meaningful and challenging work suitable for their background. The program advisor(s) and mentors will meet with you regularly to identify and develop your summer objectives. This position is paid and based in the Schaumburg, IL area. The Internship Program will run for three (3) months.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist in developing Android software components and features under

the guidance of senior engineers.

Support integration and testing of software on embedded hardware

systems.

Participate in code reviews, debugging sessions, and validation

testing.

Contribute to documentation of software designs, implementation

details, and testing procedures.

Assist in diagnosing and resolving software defects related to

system performance, connectivity, and user interaction.

Support the continuous improvement of software development processes

and tools.

Collaborate with the Software Quality Assurance team to verify

feature functionality and reliability.

Actively contribute and have an impact in a business-critical

project.

Collaborate with fellow interns on a 13-week-long case study and

present the results to senior leaders, stakeholders, and managers.

REQUIREMENTS:

Currently enrolled in full-time bachelor\'s degree program,

graduating in 2027 or 2028.

Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Software

Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.

Fundamental understanding of object-oriented programming concepts

and software design principles.

Basic knowledge of Android development using Java and/or Kotlin;

strong Java development skills may substitute for direct Android experience.

Familiarity with Linux-based environments.

Motivated self-starter eager to learn new technologies and

development processes.

Good academic standing, GPA 3.2 or higher.

Excellent organizational skills.

Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Ability to adapt well to different situations and thrive in a

challenging, fast-paced environment.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

At Life Fitness / Hammer Strength, we believe in taking care of our team with a comprehensive total rewards package that includes competitive pay and a range of valuable benefits. The base wage range for this position, intended for U.S. applicants, is \$24.00 - \$27.00 per hour and includes eligibility for overtime. The actual base pay will vary based on applicant\'s education, experience, skills, and abilities. The range reflected is based on a primary work location of Rosemont, IL and the actual salary may vary for applicants in a different geographic location.

Life Fitness / Hammer Strength provides a valuable and enriching experience for interns. Depending on the length and timing of their internship, interns may qualify for paid holidays during their assignment. They are also eligible for paid sick leave as outlined by state and local laws. Eligibility for all benefits is determined by the applicable plan documents and company policies.
