Director of Accounting & Finance

Location: New York City (Hybrid)

Salary: $150,000-$175,000+ (depending on experience)

We are seeking an experienced Director of Accounting & Finance to lead the full accounting and finance function for a growing organization based in New York City. This role will oversee a small, high-performing team of approximately five professionals and will be responsible for both end-to-end accounting operations and FP&A .

This is a hybrid role offering a mix of in-office and remote work.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and oversee the complete accounting function, including general ledger, month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, and compliance

Manage and develop a team of accounting and finance professionals (approximately 5 direct reports)

Own the FP&A function, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modeling

Prepare and present financial statements and performance reports to senior leadership

Ensure adherence to GAAP and internal controls

Partner with leadership on strategic planning, financial insights, and business decision-making

Coordinate audits and work with external auditors and advisors

Improve processes, systems, and controls to support scalability and efficiency

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred)

8-12+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience

Proven experience leading both accounting and FP&A functions

Prior people management experience required

Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and budgeting/forecasting

Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills

Experience working in a fast-paced or growing environment

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive salary range of $150K-$175K+ , depending on experience
