Job Title: I&C System Desing Engineer

Location: Bellevue, WA

Type: Contract

Compensation: $56 - $95 hourly

Contractor Work Model: Remote

System One is seeking a highly motivated Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Design Engineer to support our client's advanced nuclear programs. This role will focus on the design, development, and integration of instrumentation and control systems for next-generation reactor technologies.

The position reports to the Plant I&C Manager and involves collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams to design and test reactor I&C systems, proto@type hardware, and control architectures.

Responsibilities

Lead design of I&C and supporting electrical systems from system-level functional requirements through final design.

Develop and review specifications, system design descriptions, and engineering drawings (P&IDs, loop diagrams, architecture drawings, etc.).

Perform design evaluations applying applicable nuclear codes, standards, and NRC regulations.

Develop and manage I&C documentation, including System Requirements Documents, Interface Control Documents, and Engineering Design Specifications.

Specify instrumentation and measurement techniques for high-temperature processes and advanced reactor systems.

Support integration of I&C systems with other engineering disciplines and plant design functions.

Provide technical oversight and guidance for suppliers and subcontractors, including technical review of deliverables and coordination of engineering packages.

Support licensing activities and preparation of Safety Analysis Reports.

Drive continuous improvement by incorporating nuclear industry best practices and design control standards.

Qualifications

B.S. or higher in Electrical, Controls, or related engineering discipline from an accredited university.

6+ years of direct experience in I&C system design, development, or implementation (advanced degree may substitute for years of experience).

Experience with industrial or nuclear I&C platforms, diagnostics, and data reporting.

Familiarity with IEEE, IEC, and ASME NQA-1 / 10 CFR 50 Appendix B design and quality standards.

Prior experience designing or operating high-temperature (400°C+) systems preferred.

Ability to interpret and develop PFDs and P&IDs.

Experience using AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or SolidWorks preferred.

Excellent technical writing, analytical, and communication skills.

Strong attention to detail, initiative, and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Experience with I&C system startup testing a plus.

Additional Information

Full-time, 40 hours per week.

Travel may be required up to 5%.

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
