What You Will Do
The Product Realization and Reliability Office (PRRO) in Nuclear Production Operations consists of a multidisciplinary group of engineers and scientists that support plutonium programs (i.e., pit production, surveillance, research & development, and subcritical experiments) across the entire Nuclear Production Operations organization.
The PRRO Office is seeking a Digital Engineering Industrial Engineer to support standardization of process and data usage in support of engineering process improvements. The objective of this role is to map out workflows that govern engineering and work with capability leads to propose modernized workflows which support information connectivity and re-use. This position will predominately consist of office work with occasional shop floor engagements. The Industrial Engineer position will provide support across many engineering domains and domains that interface with engineering to help us architect an optimal digital thread.
The selected candidate will be responsible for-
Mapping out engineering and engineering interfacing business processes and their associated data flows
Proposing revisions to processes to take advantage of digital engineering capabilities
Partnering with customers to review process proposals and drive engagement
Support the collection of requirements and associating them to enterprise architecture and business process mapping efforts

What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements :
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification
Experienced reviewing and analyzing technical policies, procedures, and work instructions
Demonstrated ability to interpret and document complex business processes and workflows
Strong research and analytical skills to thoroughly understand existing processes and identify areas for improvement
Experience planning and executing projects of low to moderate complexity
Experience creating and using process models
Familiarity with the product realization process
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Strong presentation skills
Ability to obtain a Q clearance, which requires US citizenship
Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution and 4 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications:
Industrial Engineering Degree is preferred
Experience with Value Stream Mapping or Data Element Mapping & Analysis (DEMA)
Familiarity with Models Based Systems Engineering, SysML language is preferred.
Proficient understanding of databases and information models.
Strong attention to detail and ability to synthesize information from multiple sources
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering personnel and cross-functional teams.
Proactive mindset with a passion for driving continuous improvement and operational excellence in a manufacturing environment.
Experience with private industry production and continuous improvement.
Work Location: The work location for this position is fully onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment : Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Additional Detail
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
HRP : This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, §712.11. These requirements include on going drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
