Responsibilities Organizational Location: This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, within Office of Civil Rights and Equal Employment Opportunity and are assigned based on the need of the agency. Works with USCIS immigration offices to identify and address issues impacting immigration petitioners' ability to participate in USCIS' programs, services, and activities. Manages an inventory of civil rights cases, including accommodation requests made by members of the public, and coordinates all actions to meet confidentiality standards and immigration program requirements. Provides technical advice and guidance to USCIS managers and employees on civil rights issues, including those related to the provision of accommodations for members of the public with disabilities. Independently performing problem-solving techniques to identify, recommend and coordinate solutions to complex problems. Performs fact-finding, analysis, and application of civil rights authorities to identify civil rights problems, provide accommodations, and implement solutions. Using appropriate and clear written and verbal communication to gather information, relay decisions, explain complex concepts, and persuade, on matters related to customer accommodations. Analyzing and applying appropriate immigration laws, policies, and procedures to complex and sensitive immigration applications.
