The Position

Department Summary

Public Affairs & Access is a multi-disciplinary organization that includes Access Solutions & Patient Support; Channel & Contract Management; Corporate Communications; External Affairs; Patient Strategy; Policy, Evidence, & Access Strategy; and Strategic Business Operations. Our mission is to drive positive change in the healthcare system so that every patient can access our science. We lead the development of meaningful partnerships, forward-looking pricing, contracting and distribution strategies, and proactive policy solutions that advance a more equitable and hopeful future for all of those who need our therapies.

This position is based in Washington, DC , On-Site.

The Opportunity

US Policy and Evidence is looking for an intern to support the team's work in the analysis and development of policy solutions to improve affordability and equitable access for patients, support a more sustainable market-based system, and advance business objectives. Interns can expect to:

Analyze federal and state policy proposals for business impact and draft related memos;

Support the development of proactive policy solutions to improve patient access to innovative medicines;

Support government affairs and advocacy team projects, events, and other activities, as needed;

Collaborate with cross-functional business teams to better understand business operations and the impact to the business of policy proposals;

Develop valuable skills, network, gain exposure to policymaking and advocacy.

Program Highlights

Intensive 12-weeks , full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

Program start dates are in May/June (Summer)

A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.

Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

Attend policy events in Washington, DC.

Who You Are (Requirements)

Required Education: You meet one of the following criteria:

Must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree or must have attained a Bachelor's degree (recent graduates not currently enrolled in a grad program)

Must be pursuing a Master's degree or must have attained a Master's degree

Must be pursuing a PhD

Required majors : Public policy, sciences, economics (illustrative, not exhaustive)

Required Skills

Strong analytical, writing, interpersonal, attention-to-detail, and communication skills

Interest in health policy, legislation, and government affairs (through coursework, personal experience, volunteer work, or other activities)

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Ability to multitask and work independently

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Washington, DC is $21- $44/hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
