Job Description: Product Designer 3 -- Microsoft Purview UX Team Overview

Microsoft Security is on a mission to make the digital world safer for everyone. Within this mission, the Purview UX Team designs trusted, human-centered experiences that empower enterprises to manage, protect, and govern their data with confidence. We are a multidisciplinary team of Product Designers, UX Researchers, Content Designers, and UX Engineers working closely with PM and Engineering to deliver seamless, enterprise-grade solutions across administrative and AI-driven scenarios.

Data security, compliance, and governance are among the most pressing challenges for organizations today. Purview is rapidly innovating to meet these needs, building momentum as a market leader and shaping the future of enterprise security experiences. As a Product Designer 3, you will play a pivotal role in designing intuitive, accessible, and scalable solutions that balance usability with rigorous trust and compliance standards.

Purpose of the Role

The Product Designer 3 will:

Own and design end-to-end user experiences for Purview, focusing on data security, governance, compliance, and privacy.

Collaborate with PM and Engineering partners to deliver high-quality UX across administrative workflows and emerging AI/agent-driven experiences.

Elevate design quality by applying systems thinking, prototyping in Figma and code, and leveraging design systems to ensure coherence across Microsoft Security's product suite.

Typical Day in the Role

Align priorities in daily stand-ups with designers, PMs, and engineers to ensure clear ownership and accountability.

Refine user flows and wireframes for enterprise-grade security and compliance scenarios, ensuring accessibility and trust standards.

Engage in deep design work to create high-fidelity proto@types, validate interaction patterns, and incorporate feedback from usability studies and stakeholder reviews.

Collaborate with engineering partners to iterate on designs during implementation, ensuring pixel-perfect execution while challenging technical limitations.

Leverage shared design systems to maintain coherence across Purview experiences and contribute to evolving design standards.

Responsibilities

Define and own product design needs for a set of experiences, synthesizing user insights and business requirements into actionable design strategies.

Generate ideation solutions that balance business, user, and technical perspectives, articulating clear design narratives.

Proto@type new products and features rapidly, presenting to teams and customers to validate solutions.

Create wireframes, journey maps, personas, task flows, and interaction models to support intuitive, human-centered experiences.

Collaborate closely with engineering to ensure successful design implementation and iterate on solutions during development.

Apply and extend Microsoft's design system, contributing to shared libraries and team education.

Communicate proactively with cross-disciplinary teams, setting @context for stakeholders and ensuring inclusive, respectful collaboration.

Explore innovative storytelling methods (e.g., video, sound) to convey user needs and product narratives.

Influence and support team members, contributing to collective success and amplifying design impact across the organization.

QualificationsRequired

Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field AND 3+ years of product/service design experience

OR equivalent experience applying design thinking to solve complex problems.
