Summary About the Position: This position serves as the inspector general for the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC) and is responsible for providing advice to the Commander and the Command Inspector General. The position leads inspections, conducts assistance, leads investigative inquires and investigations, and teaches and trains Army standards within SDDC. Responsibilities Manage all incoming Inspector General Action Requests, lead and conduct independent inspections, inquiries, and investigations to uphold organizational integrity. Plan and execute both internal and external inspections, assessing operational efficiency and regulatory compliance across the command's activities. Review, coordinate, and track Reports of Investigation or Inquiry and inspection findings, liaising with senior leadership and external oversight bodies. Provide expert guidance to the Commanding Officer and the Command Inspector General on corrective actions, policy interpretation, and risk mitigation. Design and deliver training curricula on Inspector General processes and offer technical consultation to Inspector General offices worldwide. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1. Managing Inspector General Action Requests to analyze complaint trends and implement procedures to prevent recurring issues. 2. Planning and conducting sensitive investigations; collect multi-source evidence to produce comprehensive written Reports of Investigation or Inquiry with defensible conclusions. 3. Leading command inspections to evaluate organizational performance, verifying completion of corrective actions, and preparing final inspection reports for senior decision-makers. This definition of specialized experience is typical work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). A minimum of an interim secret security clearance is required before an individual can perform any IG functions or have access to IG records. IG positions are designated as noncritical sensitive. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
