Job Summary
The Engineering Center for Academic Success (ECAS) serves the College of Engineering community by providing learning support and holistic academic-oriented support services to students, by managing the administrative processes of the Scholastic Standing Committee (SSC) to uphold the academic standards and guidelines of the College as defined in the College Bulletin, and by managing the Honor Council process to maintain ethical conduct within the College community.
To strengthen student retention, graduation, and holistic well-being, we are hiring two full-time Academic Coaches who will report to ECAS and work in close partnership with the College of Engineering C.A.R.E. Center. The Academic Coaches will provide proactive, customized support to various groups of students including, but not limited to, students on academic probation, students from marginalized populations who may experience academic barriers, transfer students, and students referred by faculty, academic advisors, and C.A.R.E. Center staff.

Responsibilities*
Provide proactive, customized academic coaching for assigned students, which includes: monitoring performance throughout the semester, recommending strategies and resources to improve performance, discussing nonacademic issues, such as personal and financial concerns, physical and mental well-being, and making appropriate referrals to relevant student service programs on campus, etc.
Compile and maintain requested tracking information for assigned students.
Collaborate with other ECAS academic coaches to design and deliver programming, workshops, and events tailored to the needs and interests of the student populations being served.
Collaborate with other ECAS academic coaches to research and maintain an updated listing of resources for students to utilize and contribute to a weekly ECAS newsletter to keep students informed of resources and opportunities and to provide motivational support.
Participate in groups across the University that support undergraduate academic success, such as UPAGE (Undergraduate Program Advisors in Engineering), ACUM (Advisors Council at UM), and COUNTS (Council for Non-traditional Students)
Develop academic success resources for students
Develop suggestions to improve the college's policies and procedures to help support student academic success.
Required Qualifications*
Professional experience
Intermediate level: 2+ years of academic coaching and/or advising with undergraduate students.
Senior level: 3+ years of academic coaching and/or advising with undergraduate students
Education
Intermediate level: Bachelor's degree in a STEM field, Higher Education, or a related field
Senior level: Master's degree in a STEM field, Higher Education, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated analytical and critical skills
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Excellent oral and written communication skills, plus strong interpersonal skills
Experience with problem-solving, conflict resolution, and customer service skills.

Underfill Statement
This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
Please note the salary range for each classification:
Intermediate: $58,000 - $65,000
Senior: $66,000 - $78,000

This position is included in the bargaining unit represented by the University Staff United (USU), which represents bargaining unit members in all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
