Primary Objective of Position
As the National Sales Director, you will lead sales strategy for construction projects, focusing on revenue growth by developing and implementing strategies to expand market share, managing and mentoring sales and marketing teams, developing client relationships, creating proposals, and ensuring seamless project handoffs from sales to operations, bridging high-level sales targets with operational realities, budget management, and client satisfaction. Key responsibilities include strategy, team leadership, pipeline management, contract negotiation, market analysis, cross-departmental collaboration, and driving profitability for construction-related services and products.
This role requires a strategic thinker who can navigate a variety of sales cycles involving technical specifications, urgent needs and multiple stakeholders. This position is responsible for handling personnel and financial information and must ensure its confidentiality.
This is a full time, leadership position. The role requires overnight travel for client meetings, industry conferences, and on-site project visits throughout the year as necessary. Travel percentage will fluctuate based on client and business needs.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning and Execution: ?Develop and implement comprehensive business development and sales strategies to achieve company objectives and expand the customer base. This includes identifying growth opportunities and formulating plans to capitalize on emerging market trends
Sales and Marketing L eadership and Management : Write the sales playbook and demonstrate its success. Manage, mentor, and motivate the sales and marketing team, setting clear sales targets (KPIs), monitoring progress, and providing ongoing coaching to ensure alignment with organizational goals including market expansion and client penetration.
Business development and pipeline management : Drive pipeline growth by identifying, qualifying, negotiating, and closing new business. This includes securing long-term, fleet contracts within baseload power generation services, battery storage and datacenter construction markets.
Client relationship management: Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders. Coach and monitor direct reports to do the same.
Proposal and contract negotiation: Oversee the development of accurate and winning proposals. Lead contract negotiations to ensure favorable terms and alignment with company objectives and ensure all contractual obligations are met.
Market analysis and forecasting: Conduct in-depth market analysis to identify new business opportunities and competitive landscapes. The role requires the ability to forecast sales performance and provide actionable insights to executive leadership
Cross-Functional Collaboration: ?Collaborate closely with other senior leaders and departments, including marketing, operations, and finance, to ensure seamless project delivery and client satisfaction.
Performance reporting: Prepare and present sales forecasts, pipeline reports, and business development results to senior leadership, providing strategic recommendations for revenue growth.

Supports the effort of ISO 9001 and process improvement by recommending methods, equipment, techniques, and other changes to improve company operations. Participates in internal audits, risk assessment, and corrective actions as required.
This position requires intermittent availability during weekends, evenings, and early mornings for emergency projects. This does not restrict the use of their time off from work and will only be required to report to work when emergency jobs are prevalent.
Qualifications for Entry
Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field. Power generation industry experience preferred, particularly nuclear. An MBA is a plus.
Experience: 10+ years of experience in sales and business development with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Direct experience selling services in the power generation utility or industrial construction sectors is preferred.
Industry knowledge: Deep expertise in the power generation utility industry, including familiarity with electrical infrastructure (transformers, electrical bus duct or services for related components), project lifecycles, and procurement processes.
Strategic thinking: Ability to develop and implement long-range strategic sales plans and translate them into actionable, measurable results.
Leadership skills: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing sales team. Strong communication and presentation skills are essential.
Negotiation and closing skills: Demonstrated track record of negotiating and closing construction and service contracts.
Technical aptitude: Sufficient technical knowledge to understand and discuss complex construction and engineering specifications with clients and internal teams.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex concepts clearly to both internal and external stakeholders. Familiarity with CRM software, marketing automation tools, and analytics platforms. Proficiency in Microsoft O365, Teams, and related communication software.
Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver's license with clean MVR, ability to gain access to power generation facilities
