Catskill Watershed Corporation has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and confident construction Cost Estimator to join our dedicated team in Arkville, NY. This critical position helps ensure CWCs environmental programs are executed in a fiscally responsible, sustainable and effective manner.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Cost Estimator will provide subject matter expertise on construction and cost management, focusing on validating estimates, overseeing construction work being completed by contractors, and ensuring projects adhere to the relevant standards. Key Responsibilities: The Cost Estimator will manage cost control and provide construction oversight across a number of CWC's major programs:

Estimate Review and Validation: Meticulously review, interpret, and validate detailed cost estimates and pricing submitted by contractors and vendors for projects in, including but not limited to, Flood Hazard, Stormwater and Septic programs. Site and Compliance Checks: Conduct site visit assessments to oversee, troubleshoot construction issues, ensure work meets program requirements, and verify or confirm adherence to all local, state, and federal safety regulations and codes. Cost Management: Analyze engineering designs and project plans to ensure alignment with industry standards and best value practices. Identify opportunities for cost savings and improved efficiency.

Required Skills/Abilities

Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, interpersonal and assertive communication skills (both verbal and written). Thorough understanding of civil and/or wastewater engineering principles, practices, and construction materials/methods. Proficient with engineering drawings and applicable government environmental and safety regulations. Excellent time management and ability to self-prioritize workload. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Geographical knowledge of the Watershed is desirable.

Education and Experience

Bachelors degree in Construction, Science, or Engineering Fields (or equivalent relevant experience). At least four years of work experience in construction, wastewater, environment control, or natural resources field.

Physical Requirements

Ability to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsites in all @types of weather. Valid New York State Drivers License required for travel to job sites. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times. Periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Job Details

FLSA Classification: Exempt Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday (37.5 hour week) Location: Arkville, NY Compensation and Benefits $65,000 - $75,000 Excellent health (MVP Platinum plan) and dental and vision insurance (Guardian). CWC pays 90% of the premiums; employee pays 10%. 403(b) Retirement Savings Plans: generous employer contribution (7.5% of gross salary) and additional dollar-for-dollar, $3,000 per annum match. Generous paid time off
