Overview
THE ROLE:
We are seeking a strategic, highly experienced and innovative Principal Scientist to lead process and
manufacturing excellence initiatives within our dynamic R&D Process and Manufacturing Excellence team. This
role will drive the innovation, development, and optimization of manufacturing processes and technologies for a
diverse portfolio of nutritional food and supplement products. The Principal Scientist will serve as a technical
authority, leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing strategic decisions to ensure robust, compliant, and
efficient manufacturing of Herbalife products.
HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE:
¿ Lead the design, qualification, and optimization of manufacturing processes for commercial
production of Herbalife nutritional products, ensuring alignment with business goals and regulatory
requirements.
¿ Apply the Quality by Design (QbD) principles and own the data-driven design, evaluation and
qualification of product formulas and production processes.
¿ Drive manufacturability assessment, design and oversee feasibility, pilot and scale-up trials with
scientific rigor to support new product development and/or optimization of existing formulas to meet
the commercial and regulatory needs at target market.
¿ Explore and evaluate new ingredients, delivery technologies, and manufacturing innovations to
enhance product performance and operational efficiency.
¿ Apply statistical tools to evaluate formulas and process performance data, and recommend and
implement changes.
¿ Implement continuous improvement strategies across R&D and manufacturing operations.
¿ Conduct data-driven root cause analyses and resolve complex technical issues related to raw
materials, equipment, processes, and product formulas.
¿ Collaborate with global cross-functional teams including Quality, Procurement, Regulatory Affairs,
Project Management, and Supply Chain.
¿ Provide strategic recommendations based on sound technical data and product lifecycle insights.
¿ Mentor and train junior scientists, fostering a culture of scientific excellence and innovation.
¿ Represent R&D in strategic forums and communicate technical insights to senior leadership and
external stakeholders.
¿ Perform additional duties as required.

The Process & Manufacturing Excellence Team is a key part of Herbalife Central Product Innovation function
consisting of diverse and talented scientists who are skilled in product formulation, sensory, manufacturing and
processing technologies. Our team provides global manufacturing support and corporate governess, drives
technology innovation and strategic continuous improvement to deliver optimal production capability, efficiency,
quality, and cost effectiveness. Our team values scientific curiosity, collaboration, and continuous improvement,
and operates in a fast-paced environment where innovation and technical excellence are key to success.

Qualifications
SKILLS AND BACKGROUND REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
8+ years of commercial product development and manufacturing experience (capsules, tablets, soft
gels, powder, liquid, etc.) with broad understanding of technologies and product lines.
Expertise in QbD principles and extensive experience in product/process development within a cGMP
environment.
Proficiency in statistical tools for product/process improvement and specification development.
Able to take initiative with demonstrated leadership in technical project management and cross-
functional collaboration.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with strategic decision-making ability.
Excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex technical concepts to non-technical
Audiences.
Proven track record to learn with an open mind, acquire and apply new knowledge quickly.
Can navigate a fast-paced and diverse environment.
Ability to lead, coach and mentor in an industrial setting and influence across diverse teams.
Education
Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Food
Science, or related field
