As a Quality team lead you will assist the Quality Manager in leading Team members, coordinating and delegating workflow and overseeing day to day operation of area; promoting cooperative team relationships, establishing and modifying priorities, gathering metrics, generating reports, overseeing work for multiple job classifications, etc. Occasionally performing various warehousing functions at a Caterpillar warehouse/distribution facility.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Attend start up PID. Actively participate and communicate known issues with the teams.
Work with BIQ areas and provide them data and coachbacks from previous day/current month.
Lead sort meetings at CLS and support problem solving activities with the team
Attend sort meetings with Quality Manager to improve customer operations
Review defect tracker daily with status of internal/external defects
Work with operations teams to prevent past due BIQ responses to the customer
Work with the customer to gather information regarding customer found defects
Provide internal areas with info necessary to complete investigations
Reject defects assigned that do not provide adequate information to complete investigations
Support assembly in getting the required information for CLF teams to investigate
Oversee BIQ Kit audit for compliance of kit going to LEC
Verify and sign off on returns from assembly to return to LEC through Power App
Coordinate and facilitate Kaizen and Go See Act walks with operations teams for repeating defects from CLS
Lead and Facilitate weekly Errors per 10k review with Quality Manager and Decision team.
Confirm Month end schedule adjusted accordingly
Lead Extended Quality Metrics weekly walk
Enter each of the following into the BIS system weekly: 1 Stop-to-Fix, 1 Standard work audit, and 1 HOPS
Support operations group to prevent past due BIQ responses >48 hours
PST required items: Missed BIQ defects, SLA findings, high trending offenders, External Defects (identified by the customer).
Communicate with peer on next shift. (Clean handoff in email or hand-written log. Pass off any unfinished items)
5S- Verify work area is in good 5S condition. No unnecessary items remaining in immediate work area
Essential Job Functions:
Occasionally lift parts up to 35 pounds individually or 70 pound as team lift
Occasional bending, reaching and squatting while performing tasks
Consistent usage of required PPE for task being performed
Work in an environment with frequently changing temperatures
Standing and/or sitting at a desk while performing tasks
Basic Qualifications may include, but are not limited to:
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Demonstrated proficiency in mathematical and analytical skills
Working with Microsoft Excel, Word, Power point, and Access
Good attendance record
Ability to maintain accurate and complete records
Top candidates will also have:
Previous leadership experience in a manufacturing or logistics operation
Demonstrated Lean Manufacturing experience

This position will flex between two facilities: 1627 Veterans Memorial Pkwy E, Lafayette, IN 47905 and 1521 Kepner Dr. Lafayette, IN 47905
This is a 3rd shift position Sun-Thurs 10:30p-6:30a
$23.35/hour plus 6% night shift premium

Summary Pay Range:
$23.35 - $29.15
