DESCRIPTIVE STATEMENT:
Under the general direction of the Mayor, the Economic Development Marketing Support role will perform a variety of administrative support and promotional tasks to advance the economic development of the City. This will include content generation such as photography, videography, and creation of social media posts; research; spreadsheet tracking; and routine office functions such as establishing relationships, answering the phone, making copies, and filing related to economic development processes. This individual will assist with community development activities connected to economic development projects, including networking with partner agencies. Works closely with the Mayor's Office, Public Affairs, and Public Works departments.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provides administrative and technical support in the planning and execution of the Economic Development program for the City of Pueblo organization. This includes business attraction, retention, job creation, business assistance, marketing, and related functions
Develops content and media for social media related to economic development
Collects and analyzes related social media data and provides periodic/special reports
Contributes to social media follower's satisfaction by reading, researching, and posting responses to inquiries and comments in a timely and customer focused manner
Supports efforts around communication and collaboration with development professionals interested in establishing businesses in the City of Pueblo as assigned
Researches topics pertinent to economic development operations, trends, and best practices
Collects and analyzes economic, demographic, and other relevant data to determine past, present, and future trends affecting growth and development in Pueblo. Reports findings and recommendations to the Mayor as assigned
Gathers necessary statistical and background information from City Departments, community partners, and other organizations as appropriate to support economic and community development activities
Develops and maintains a database of potential economic and community development opportunities, tracking City organization activities in relation to the progress of such opportunities and projects
Monitors budget, contracts, and agreements relating to economic development or property management activities which involve payments or financial calculations
IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS:
Remote site visits required
Evening and weekend events and meeting attendance may be required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher), Photoshop, Premier, Illustrator, and other related software, sufficient to create and maintain promotional material, social media graphics, presentations, and reports
Knowledge of the design and implementation of graphics and audio/video to include photograph and audio/video manipulation and communication
Knowledge of the principles and practices of web-editing, online marketing, popular marketing venues, and social media (Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Instagram, YouTube, etc.)
Knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance for accessibility concerns related to graphic design, colors, and alt text for display
Ability to interact professionally and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, the public, contractors, elected officials, and partner agencies
Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written form, to gather and analyze economic data to develop sound proposals
Ability to attend public meetings outside the normal work hours including nights and occasional weekends.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to ensure that presentations and written products produced are clear, well crafted, and responsive, are timely and objective
Knowledge of grammar, vocabulary, and principles of business correspondence to compose, review, and edit reports, presentations, and other written materials related to City business
Knowledge of principles of time-management to work efficiently in the presence of frequent interruptions and shifts in priorities
Ability to perform duties with little or no immediate supervision
Ability to perform all the job duties in a safe manner
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
In addition to the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above, this position requires the following:
A high school diploma, GED, or higher education (associate degree or higher preferred)
One (1) year of recent successful demonstrated experience in social media, marketing, content generation, customer service, or other highly detail-oriented field
One (1) year of experience in an environment using computers and computer-related equipment
A valid driver's license at the time of application, and a valid Colorado driver's license within 30 days of employment
License restrictions that may hinder your ability to drive on City business, such as an interlock, will be cause for disqualification.
During the course of employment, a valid license must be maintained, and the employee must notify the City immediately upon changes to the status of their license.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Must be legally eligible to work in the United States. Works primarily indoors in a comfortable office environment. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to meet the physical demands of the job including the ability to retrieve information from various locations and sources when needed. The position requires a great deal of interpersonal communication with City employees, the public, and outside agencies. The individual may be frequently exposed to periods of demanding activity and moderate mental stress.
Position requires that the individual be able to work overtime, attend evening meetings, and work flexible hours. Most duties are performed indoors; however, the incumbent will be required to perform some duties outdoors. Must be able to work, drive, and travel in inclement weather.
All required licenses and certifications must be maintained throughout the term of employment. Failure to obtain or maintain licenses and certifications may result in demotion or termination.
Due to Federal and State Criminal Justice System access requirements, classifications that access and maintain criminal justice information may also be required, as a condition of employment, to not have been convicted of and/or have pending charges of a felony or misdemeanor crime that would deny or otherwise restrict access to criminal justice information. This requirement applies to all existing City employees as well as external candidates seeking to fill positions that meet the given criteria.

City of Pueblo Temporary and Seasonal Employee Sick Leave Benefits
Beginning January 1, 2021, all employers in Colorado are required to provide paid sick leave to employees under the Healthy Families and Workplaces Act ("HFWA"). Said leave is accrued at one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 48 hours.
Per the Act, leave may be used for any of the following reasons:
The employee has a mental or physical illness, injury, or health condition; needs a medical diagnosis, care, or treatment related to such illness, injury, or condition; or needs to obtain preventive medical care.
The employee needs to care for a family member who has a mental or physical illness, injury, or health condition; needs a medical diagnosis, care, or treatment related to such illness, injury, or condition; or needs to obtain preventive medical care.
The employee or family member has been the victim of domestic abuse, sexual assault, or harassment and needs to be absent from work for purposes related to such crime; or
A public official has ordered the closure of the school or place of care of the employee's child or of the employee's place of business due to a public health emergency, necessitating the employee's absence from work.
Consistent with the HWFA, part-time temporary and seasonal employees of the City shall not carry forward more than forty-eight (48) hours of unused sick leave from one year to the next.

City employment as a temporary or seasonal employee means that the most you can expect to work is 1300 hours in a calendar year. Depending on the work schedule required by the hiring department, this means more time to spend with your family and/or doing other activities.
