Role Overview
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support Thermal Protection System (TPS) application, electromechanical structure assembly, and Assembly, Integration & Test (AI&T) operations. You'll be a technical leader on the production floor-driving safety, quality, schedule, and cost performance while ensuring engineering requirements are met.
This role is hands-on, collaborative, and ideal for candidates passionate about solving challenges, improving processes, and enabling precision manufacturing at scale. Occasional travel is required to support operations at partner sites.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Technical Leadership & Production Execution
Lead daily technical operations to meet engineering, schedule, and cost commitments.
Provide real-time production status and updates to leadership.
Support Missile Assembly Integration and Test (AI&T) activities.
Manufacturing Engineering & Process Development
Write and maintain detailed manufacturing work instructions, SOPs, and technical documentation.
Manage manufacturing plans, tooling needs, routing, and changes to the build process.
Develop procedures for fabrication of tools, equipment, and related production processes.
Adapt equipment and processes to factory needs and integrate inspection/test requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Problem-Solving
Provide guidance to engineers on design concepts and specification requirements to maximize manufacturability.
Collaborate with safety, quality, engineering, and program teams to meet technical and programmatic goals.
Resolve moderate-complexity technical issues and coordinate solutions across teams.
Continuous Improvement
Support implementation of lean principles, automation, robotics, and advanced manufacturing technologies.
Travel as needed to assist manufacturing operations at other facilities.
Work Environment
Shift : Thursday-Sunday, 4:00 PM-2:30 AM CST (Second Shift).
Collaborative, hands-on manufacturing environment supporting high-precision aerospace hardware.
Work may involve time on the production floor, coordination with engineering labs, and occasional travel.
Safety-first culture with focus on quality, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement.
Basic Qualifications:
Required to be considered for the role:
5+ years of manufacturing experience.
Experience collaborating with multi-functional teams.
Ability to work second shift (4:00 PM - 2:30 AM CST, Thursday-Sunday).
U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
Desired Skills:
Not required - strongly preferred
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline.
Proven production flow troubleshooting skills.
Experience with basic tooling/fixture design.
Knowledge of additive manufacturing, CAD/CAM, or 3D printing.
Active Secret clearance.
Experience presenting to senior leaders or government customers.
Familiarity with manufacturing systems and processes such as:
EVMS, Cost Accounting, Work Instructions, BOMs, Routings, Qnotes, FFMEA, FOE/FOD.
Experience with tools such as ERP/SAP, EPDM, VECAMS, PMP databases.
Lean Manufacturing exposure; Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt a plus.
Experience with ESD, ordnance handling, or missile AI&T operations.
Aerospace or manufacturing leadership experience.
Strong cross-functional communication skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Experience writing manufacturing work instructions or technical publications.
Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, schematics, specs, and BOMs.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
