Caterpillar's Electrification & Energy Solutions (E&ES) Division will focus on delivering advanced electrified powertrains, zero-emissions products/technologies, and the solutions and services associated with these technologies. Focus areas include batteries, fuel cells, motors, inverters, micro grid controllers, charging, energy storage systems, lifecycle solutions/services and integration of components for ePowertrain solutions across industries.

Job Summary:
The Controls Engineering Specialist position within the Electric Powertrain Controls team will be responsible for leading powertrain controls design, development, simulation, and validation for machine applications. The position will develop leveraged control features to support various electrified powertrain system architectures. The position will collaborate with a global team to solve technical problems and deliver on project goals, continually learn to stay abreast of innovative technology, and mentor team members. This role directly impacts Caterpillar current and future electrified powertrain products.
What you will do:
Develop and document powertrain controls requirements and translate into detailed design documents based on machine level performance requirements
Develop common, leveraged control features through model-based development for various electromechanical system architectures
Leverage virtual product development (model-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop simulation) for control system functional testing, powertrain optimization, and performance verification
Develop, calibrate, and validate powertrain control features through lab and / or machine development
Investigate powertrain controls issues for root cause and validate issue resolution
Coordinate control feature development to align with machine project timeline
Collaborate with process partners to deliver high quality product
What you have:
Degree Requirement : Bachelors in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering or related curriculum
Requirements Analysis: Extensive experience and knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project
Conceptual Thinking: Extensive experience and knowledge of thinking and reasoning at a conceptual level; ability to identify the critical ideas and interdependencies among system elements that impact performance
Embedded Systems: Extensive experience and knowledge of embedded systems and their applications; ability to develop embedded systems with varying levels of complexity to control the operations of the machine it is embedded within
Problem Solving: Extensive experience and knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations
Communicating Complex Concepts: Extensive experience and knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience

This position is located in Mossville, IL and requires 5-day a week on-site availability

Summary Pay Range:
$126,000.00 - $189,000.00
