Job Title: Drafter

Job Description

We are looking for an entry level drafter to help with Mechanical MEP projects. This role involves drafting/designing complex heating, ventilation, cooling, and plumbing systems, as well as refrigeration systems for industrial and commercial buildings. The ideal candidate will be able to manage multiple projects concurrently and coordinate effectively with other disciplines in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

Design heating, ventilation, cooling, and plumbing systems.

Conduct load calculations, life cycle costing, and energy modeling.

Design refrigeration systems for industrial and commercial buildings where food and other perishable goods are stored.

Coordinate with other disciplines and work collaboratively in a team environment.

Review installation of designed equipment/systems for compliance with construction documents.

Manage multiple projects within established schedules.

Prepare construction cost estimates in both broad and detailed scopes.

Assist in the development of contract specifications and research new procedures and products.

Perform all work safely and responsibly in accordance with the Health and Safety Plan.

Represent the company positively and uphold its core values.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

Associates or Bachelors in Drafting and Design

Proficiency in Revit, mechanical design, MEP design, HVAC design, and refrigeration.

Strong teamwork, communication, and client relationship skills.

Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

Strong work ethic and solid organizational skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in conducting load calculations, life cycle costing, and energy modeling.

Ability to prepare detailed construction cost estimates.

Experience in developing contract specifications and researching new procedures and products.

Work Environment

This position is part of a small, family-oriented team of 23 employees working in a bullpen-style office. There is an option for a hybrid work arrangement after demonstrating the ability to perform effectively. The company offers generous full-time benefits and is open to providing relocation packages to Lawrence.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lawrence, KS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
