COMPENSATION INFORMATION
The salary range(s) represents our good faith estimate for the role at this time. While we strive to provide competitive and transparent compensation, there may be circumstances where an offer is above or outside of the listed range. Engineer I - Salary Range: $80,000 - $87,000
Engineer II - Salary Range: $90,000 - $99,000

The Engineer plays a key role in supporting the reliability and efficiency of the SPP electricity markets. This position is responsible for analyzing market data, developing a deep understanding of market concepts and protocols, performing market clearing engine sensitivities, and supporting Market Operations through daily, monthly, and annual market activities. The Market Analyst also contributes to software development/testing efforts and provides timely responses to customer inquiries.
Key Responsibilities
Develop a detailed understanding of electricity market concepts by reviewing market protocols and researching assigned market areas.
Analyze market data by building robust database queries and drawing actionable insights.
Gain proficiency with the market clearing engine and perform sensitivity analyses in support of market studies.
Support Market Operations with:
Daily market reviews
Repricing activities
Monthly model upload validations
Resolution of market study issues
Participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation
Assist in the development, testing, and implementation of market software changes.
Respond to and resolve customer issues by conducting analysis, providing clear communication, and coordinating internal discussions as necessary.
Support daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual market analysis processes.
Develop and maintain recurring market reports to meet established deadlines.
Provide analytical support and presentations to SPP working groups, committees, and task forces.
Perform commercial modeling with a high standard of data integrity and support updates to commercial model software.
Monitor and maintain accuracy for wind and solar forecasting tools.
Provide analysis and review of Post Operations Processing System (POPS) results and ensure accurate data transfers to Settlements in alignment with SOC1 financial controls.
Support updates to public data postings through the creation, modification, and review of database queries.
To be successful as the Engineer II or I we're looking for:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, this degree should:
Be from a university that meets the requirements to sit for the Professional Engineering exam (in Arkansas, that is most typically a degree from an ABET accredited university or a graduate degree from a college that has an ABET accreditation),
Degree should be in a calculus-based engineering field, and preferred degree programs are Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Systems Engineering
Engineer I - no experience required
Engineer II - Two (2) years of job-related work experience
Strong inter-personal and teamwork skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Understanding of and compliance with SPP Policies and Procedures
Preferred:
Advanced degree in related field
Electricity industry experience
Experience with software programming languages
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of the workweek are Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Working extended hours may be required.
Travel Requirement:
This position requires minimal travel (approximately 0 - 10%)
