Sodium-Air Heat Exchanger Lead Engineer

The Sodium-Air Heat Exchanger (AHX) Lead Engineer reports to the Intermediate Air Cooling System Manager and is focused on AHX component design, analysis, its performance within the system, and vendor oversight. In this role, you will act as a design engineer for TerraPower's advanced nuclear reactor projects. The successful candidate will integrate and coordinate with engineers working on interfacing systems. The AHX Lead Engineer will work as part of a high-performing team of engineers and scientists.

Responsibilities

Design of fluid systems from development of requirements through final design and commissioning.

Perform technical trade studies and decisions to refine system design.

Oversee suppliers during development and fabrication of sodium processing, filtration, and monitoring equipment

Review component designs in the @context of the greater system design to determine how detailed design of components impacts the greater system.

Prepare system level engineering documentation including technical specifications and operations narratives.

Review system documentation to anticipate and resolve system and plant level integration issues before they are realized.

Support design reviews as system designs are established and refined.

Develop and review technical design documents, such as System Design Descriptions, Interface Control Documents, Engineering Design Specifications, etc.

Generate design packages for system designs including coordinating of calculations, design reports, drawings, and specifications.
