Summary You will serve as a COMPOSITE/PLASTIC FABRICATOR in the RUBBER AND PLASTICS SHOP (57E), ELECTRONICS REPAIR DIVISION (TRF-730), WEAPONS REPAIR DEPARTMENT (TRF-700) of TRIREFFAC KINGS BAY. Responsibilities You will manufacture and repair a variety of plastic and rubber articles. You will prepare surfaces prior to plastic/rubber installation. You will manufacture items made of thermoset plastics (model cast), including plaques, bunk vent screens. You will prepare surfaces for painting and apply paint to repaired items. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION WG-10 Experience of plastic and related materials found on submarines. Experience with precision measuring equipment use in relation to manufacturing, repairing and replacing submarine rubber and plastic materials. Experience reading blueprints, specifications and technical documentation. WG-08 Experience conducting Safety requirements and written processes for various Rubber & Plastic repairs and fabrication. Experience with proper rubber, paint and fiberglass removal techniques. Eperience in preparation of metal and fiberglass surfaces for painting application.
