Become a Data Science/Predictive Analytics Senior Specialist at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you will be responsible for working closely with internal clients, Subject Matter Experts, information architects, data engineers, process leads, project/program managers, and other teams to turn data into critical information and knowledge that can be used to make data informed business decisions.
You will work in the Business Intelligence Center (BIC) within Customer Service, developing predictive analytics solutions. You'll support internal clients by solving complex problems and enhancing business and customer experiences. Your tasks include analyzing large data sets, building advanced analytical models, and generating actionable insights for decision-making. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, leveraging advanced statistical methods, machine learning techniques, and AI technology to solve real-world problems.
You will be accountable for partnering with OU clients to understand business problems, identify opportunities for improvement, and incorporate analytics solutions into business processes, to ensure analytics solutions deliver positive business value and are directly associated with OU goals.
Primary responsibilities will include:
Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to support solutions for data-driven business challenges.
Build and implement predictive and prescriptive models to improve decision-making.
Assist in identifying opportunities for AI, machine learning, and data science to address business needs.
Translate defined business objectives into actionable requirements for AI/ML models.
Contribute to the design and development of AI/ML models using established techniques and frameworks.
Apply machine learning algorithms and data mining methods to analyze datasets and generate insights.
Monitor model performance and support enhancements to maintain accuracy and reliability.
Follow established processes and governance standards for ethical, explainable, and reproducible AI/ML solutions.
Stay informed on emerging tools and techniques; share recommendations with the team.
Participate in team knowledge-sharing and professional development activities.
Ensure compliance with security and integrity standards when handling sensitive data and assets.

Responsibilities
Engages diverse stakeholders including data scientists, business clients, data engineers, SMEs and team members to define solutions to complex business problems requiring advanced analytics and modeling
Develops predictive and prescriptive data models using machine learning, statistical modeling and other advanced techniques to uncover insights that improve data-driven decision making across the organization
Identifies high-value use cases across business functions and domains to apply artificial intelligence, machine learning and data science to solve previously intractable business problems
Translates specific business challenges into well-defined objectives, requirements and success criteria for developing appropriate AI/ML models and solutions
Designs, develops and thoroughly evaluates innovative AI/ML models leveraging techniques like neural networks, deep learning and reinforcement learning to create predictive capabilities
Applies cutting-edge machine learning algorithms and data mining techniques to extract key insights and make accurate predictions from large, varied and complex datasets
Continuously monitors and enhances AI/ML models for improved performance; tracks key metrics to validate models against desired outcomes
Develops AI/ML solutions following established processes and model governance practices for ethics, explainability, reproducibility and ongoing maintenance
Researches and evaluates new and emerging AI/ML tools, techniques and technologies; makes recommendations on their potential business application and impact
Develops peer relationships and participates in industry groups and events to stay current on data science

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or Business Analytics.
Three or more years of experience in data analytics related work.*PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, business analytics = 2 years of experience credit.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in an Applied Sciences or STEM discipline.
Industry certifications in data science, machine learning, or cloud analytics (e.g., AWS Certified Machine Learning, Microsoft Certified Data Scientist).
Coding: Proficiency in Python, or Scala, SQL, SAS etc.
Advanced proficiency in machine learning and predictive modeling.
Database systems: MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MSSQL.
Big Data Analytics: Hadoop environment, Hive, Pig or Spark.
Two or more years of experience working GCP, Azure, Snowflake, Databricks, and PowerBI.
Three or more years of experience using machine Learning methods such as deep learning, Bayesian methods, time series analysis, boosting, and bagging.
Formulate high-level business goals as data science problems. Identify appropriate machine learning or data mining algorithms to solve various electric utility problems.
Experience developing or deploying Gen AI-based solutions (e.g./ prompt engineering, summarization, text classification, or workflow automation.
Capable of learning from state-of-the-art technical articles and reports. Has the ability to tailor state-of-the-art algorithms to solve the problem at hand, Has the ability to create insightful interpretations of the results.
Ability to effectively communicate technical content to non-technical audience at all levels, including individual contributor, frontline manager, middle management, and executives.
Broad understanding of the electric utility industry and its regulatory environment.
Additional Information
This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.? Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.? Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
