Job Summary:
As a Systems Engineering/Integration & Test Intern within the Space & Airborne Center, you will interface with the customers to develop CONOPS, system architecture, system requirements and manage qualification, verification and validation. Our center focuses on front end design and development as well as transitioning systems through integration and test to production. You will also perform functional / physical analysis, allocation, and trade studies.
You will support Radar Mode requirement development, engineering testing, integration and flight-testing, production, system deployment, and post deployment support across the product lifecycle. Through Digital Transformation (DTx) you will perform these functions using a variety of methods and enabling technologies, including Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Agile product development.
This position is an onsite role.
This position can be a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior Technical Intern based on the candidate's qualifications and standing as outlined below:
(Sophomore Technical Intern) - must be enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program and classified as a Sophomore by start of internship and provide proof of graduation prior to first day of employment.
(Junior Technical Intern) - must be enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program and classified as a Junior by start of internship and provide proof of graduation prior to first day of employment.
(Senior Technical Intern)- must be enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program and classified as a Senior by start of internship and provide proof of graduation prior to first day of employment.
What You Will Do
Support systems requirement development and analysis.
Support activities in our labs and document requirement verifications.
Complete and compile detailed performance evaluations, including the use of analysis tools, such as MATLAB and Python
Prepare and present results in reports and briefings to internal or external stakeholders
Generate test plans/procedures for assessing system performance
Generate test documentation for verification/acceptance of components, subsystems, and systems
Execute IV&V activities for multidisciplinary Integration and Test teams.
Execute in-house and off-site test activities for system demonstrations and/or system sell-off.
Brief senior program management and engineering leadership.
Test hardware and software builds.
Qualifications You Must Have
This position is for an intern who is enrolled in a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline (preferably Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Physics degree program).
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Academic or internship experience that included hands-on testing of electronic equipment
Exposure to troubleshooting technical issues with electronics in an academic or internship setting, or as part of a hobby
Exposure to data analysis using tools such as Microsoft Office, Python, MATLAB and/or C+ Qualifications We Prefer
Experience or coursework in Systems Engineering
Extracurricular involvement in school groups/clubs and/or the community
3.0 cumulative GPA or higher
Basic understanding on how radar systems are developed and function
Understanding of radar modes and operation, such as air/air detection, air/ground detection, and ground mapping capabilities
Understanding of radar hardware such as receiver/exciters, antennas, processors and the key performance parameters associated with each
Understanding of radar timelines and timing and control
Understanding of the different @types of waveforms used/available and the pros and cons of each
Understanding of radar performance predictions, such as detection range and dynamic range, and how these flow down to hardware parameters
Understanding the different stages of radar testing (hardware, radar lab, flight test, production)
Ability to analyze issues and define solutions
Strong communication skills including effective written, verbal, and listening skills Self-starter with the ability to independently pursue information and solve problems
Proven strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment Ability to solve problems and seek out additional resources

The salary range for this role is 42,000 USD - 88,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
