Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This role is vital to ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial data while supporting various accounting operations. Ideal candidates will bring strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and analyze month-end financial reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Create and post journal entries for revenue and expense accounts.

Manage internal and external billing processes while investigating and resolving discrepancies.

Handle complex accounting tasks related to grants, accounts receivable, accounts payable, deposits, and operating or capital projects.

Reconcile accounts, prepare trial balances, and process adjusting and closing entries in the general ledger.

Ensure timely and accurate data entry into financial systems.

Generate summary reports on financial activities and provide account analysis.

Support month-end and year-end close processes.

Collaborate with team members to maintain compliance with accounting standards and practices.

Assist with other accounting operations as needed to support organizational goals. Requirements - Proficiency in preparing journal entries and working with general ledger systems.

Experience with accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes.

Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.

Familiarity with financial software such as PeopleSoft and Workday.

Strong ability to reconcile accounts and ensure accuracy in financial records.

Knowledge of month-end and year-end closing procedures.

Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail in financial reporting.

Ability to meet deadlines and adapt to a dynamic work environment.
