The 787 Cabin Air Compressor (CAC) SIPT Lead is responsible for ensuring the successful execution of reliability-enhancement engineering activities for the in-service aircraft fleet. This Boeing Commercial role resides within the Environmental & Airframe Control Systems (EACS) division of Collins Aerospace Power & Controls. The CAC is a critical component of the Cabin Air Conditioning and Temperature Control System (CACTCS) and is a key enabler of more-electric aircraft architectures.
The CAC Lead is responsible for project execution, including technical, cost, schedule, and quality requirements. This role reports directly to the 787 Program Chief Engineer and interfaces closely with program managers, product line leadership, and operations to ensure efficient communication and alignment of priorities. It also requires close integration with the Electrical Power System (EPS) team and external suppliers. The CAC Lead interfaces directly with the Boeing engineering customer on a regular basis.
This hybrid role is based in Windsor Locks, CT, and typically requires 3-4 days on-site per week, depending on project and customer needs. Travel may be up to 20%.
What You Will do
Lead a multi-disciplinary team to execute CAC reliability-improvement projects, including design, development, and qualification tasks for both hardware and software products.
Provide effective communication with the Boeing engineering customer by leading technical coordination meetings and workshops; ensure strong technical and schedule alignment between Collins and Boeing.
Lead executive and customer presentations, including engagements with Boeing and airline operators.
Manage cost-reduction activities and mitigate producibility risks.
Learn and become proficient in the system architecture, performance, and operation of the Cabin Air Conditioning and Temperature Control System (CACTCS).
Drive efforts to identify, prioritize, and eliminate sources of CAC reliability issues through collaboration with Product Line leadership and feedback from in-service fleet operators.
Lead core project-management activities, including requirements management, risk management, change review board participation, and processing change requests.
Manage project budgets and monthly EVMS activities, including Estimate-at-Complete forecasts, variance reporting, and engineering resource planning through direct coordination with systems integration and component functional leads.
Drive execution of supplier transitions related to the CAC.
Support the development of prognostic health-management analytics for the CAC.
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience
Qualifications We Prefer
Ability to maintain positive customer relationships with Boeing and fleet operators through the successful execution of engineering activities
Project management and project engineering experience, including the ability to manage plans, schedules, budgets, and cross-functional teams
Experience communicating effectively with executive leadership and external customers
Experience working within a highly matrixed organization, including coordination with internal teams, suppliers, and customers
Expertise in requirements development and management using DOORS
Familiarity with turbomachinery and electric motors
Knowledge of thermodynamics and fluid dynamics principles
Experience with design processes and functional requirements development
Proven ability to develop and maintain strong customer relationships
Prior systems integration or systems engineering experience
At least 5 years of aerospace industry experience preferred
Experience supporting root-cause investigations

The salary range for this role is 147,000 USD - 295,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
