Overview

Schedule: Monday-Friday with rotating weekends.

Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Clinical Lab Scientist performs a range of standard and/or technically demanding procedures in one or more of the Clinical Laboratory disciplines exercising initiative and independent judgment. Communicates technical or general information to their manager, director, & medical staff. Participate in administrative activities. Provides expertise and serves as a technical resource for others. May provide functional supervision to support staff.

Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience:

Minimum 1 year of post-baccalaureate clinical training as a Clinical Lab Scientist in a clinical laboratory

Minimum 1 year of work experience as a CLS performing high complexity testing in hematology, chemistry, blood bank, and microbiology in a CLIA-certified clinical laboratory by the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)

For Clinical Lab Scientist with Limited California License:

Minimum 1 year of post-baccalaureate clinical training

Minimum 1 year of work experience in the specialty area related to the license.

Preferred:

1+ year of clinical experience in the specialty or subspecialty areas of the clinical laboratory highly preferred.

Experience performing testing using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and Mass Spectrometry.

Strong technical knowledge in Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) processes.

Ability to calibrate instruments and conduct quality check reviews.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for data management and reporting.

Skilled in data analysis and interpretation of results.

Demonstrated ability to adapt and learn quickly, with strong attention to detail.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Positive, collaborative attitude and strong teamwork skills.

Flexibility in scheduling to meet operational needs.

ASCP Board of Registry certification as a Medical Technologist or other relevant specialty preferred.

Education/Licensure/Certifications:

Bachelor's degree meeting California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Laboratory Field Services academic requirements.

Active California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) License OR acceptable Limited California Licenses

Pay Scale Information

$88,962.00-$146,151.00

Final determination of a successful candidate's starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
