Job Summary:
Under general direction, this position manages the depreparation process for retiring semi-tractors, including oversight of repair estimates, cost efficiency, quality standards, and timely coordination across internal teams and external partners. This role combines technical expertise with strong communication skills to effectively partner with internal departments, vendors, and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). The incumbent will exercise discretion This position has the possibility to work outdoors, in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends in addition to overtime; it requires full-time attendance.
Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:
Interact with internal and/or external customers or vendors to determine depreparation requirements to ensure that all business objectives are being addressed
Compile and distribute reports highlighting maintenance shops that exceed goals for depreparation costs and/or cycle time
Promote operational efficiency through conducting process training at terminals nationwide and coordinating with internal teams, such as the Parts Department, to ensure timely availability of parts for depreparation work
Assist management with forecasting future department needs and opportunities
Review OEM inspection reports to confirm requested repairs align with company expectations; partner with OEMs and third-party buyers to streamline processes and resolve issues
Review and validate repair estimates for completeness and cost-effectiveness; ensure repair estimates are comprehensive and accurate by coordinating with shops and vendors
Analyze depreparation cost data to develop actional solutions for cost reduction
Apply independent knowledge to make informed decisions on whether to repair or total equipment based on condition and cost analysis
Maintain the company's safety culture by promoting a safe work environment in compliance with federal and state regulations
Utilize computer systems and programs to manage the planning, execution, control and closure of individual maintenance projects for the organization
May develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and status reports to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to specification

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 2-3 years of semi-tractor technician or related experience and/or military equivalent
Possess a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record as per J.B. Hunt standards
Strong understanding of semi-tractor equipment, specifically repair processes and mechanical systems
Ability to interpret inspection reports and cost data
Ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively
Experience standardizing processes
Experience conducting training as a peer lead and/or direct management
Preferred Qualifications:
Willingness to travel to terminals regularly to provide training and process audits
Understanding of basic data analysis for cost improvement
Ability to document information and make quick decisions
Ability to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds)
Ability to run queries, utilize SQL, and perform basic analytics
Ability to wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE)
Ability to work both individually and as a team
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work with minimal direction

Compensation:
Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company's bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
