Summary This position is in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Chillicothe VA Medical Center (VAMC). The position is in the Maintenance & Operations (M&O) Shop, Facilities Management Service (FMS) and works under the direct supervision of the M&O Supervisor. The incumbent of this position performs as a Laborer requiring moderately heavy physical effort. The work requires the use of common hand tools and simple power equipment. Responsibilities Duties include, but are not limited to: Lifting, moving, and assembling moderately heavy objects such as furniture and equipment by hand, hand truck or dolly. Maintaining grounds using manual equipment to fill holes, rake leaves, or dig ditches. Using simple powered equipment such push lawn mowers, edgers, trimmers, etc. to maintain grounds. Collecting and emptying garbage cans. Incumbent operates large, industrial, walking-@type power mowers (e.g., one or more cutting decks, mechanical controls, and attachable implements) and/or simple riding-@type mowers (e.g., a fixed or floating cutting deck(s) with limited adjustments). Incumbent shovels snow and performs other related duties as assigned. Escorts third party contractors while in areas with sensitive information. Position Description Title/PD#: Laborer/PD92950A Physical Requirements: Exert moderately heavy physical effort in doing such tasks as occasionally lifting and carrying heavy objects weighing up to 23 kilograms (50 pounds).
