POSITION SUMMARY:
TO PLAN, ORGANIZE, DIRECT AND CONTROL ALL FOOD PURCHASING FUNCTIONS OF THE HOTEL TO ENSURE THAT THE HIGHEST QUALITY PRODUCT IS PURCHASED AT THE BEST POSSIBLE PRICE WHILE ADHERING TO CORPORATE POLICIES AND SCHEDULING DEMANDS. DIRECT AND ORGANIZE PACKAGES COMING INTO THE HOTEL AND ALERT THE APPROPRIATE DEPARTMENTS.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
THE POSITION REQUIRES PERFORMING THE FOLLOWING ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, WITH OR WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION.
AVERAGE PERCENTAGE OF TIME
20 - COMMUNICATES WITH EXECUTIVE CHEF, BANQUET CHEF AND SOUS CHEFS AND ORDERS ALL F&B PRODUCTS ACCORDING TO HOTEL NEEDS AND SPECIFICATIONS. FORECASTS OPERATIONAL NEEDS AND SCHEDULES DELIVERIES OF ALL FOOD AND BEVERAGE ITEMS.
20 - MONITORS THE GRADES AND QUALITY OF PRODUCTS RECEIVED TO ENSURE THAT THEY MEET THE HOTEL'S ESTABLISHED STANDARDS.
10 - DETERMINES REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL CATERING MENUS, AND ORDERS ACCORDING TO GUARANTEE OF THE MENUS.
10 - SUPERVISES PURCHASING STAFF
10 - OBTAINS BIDS FROM VENDORS, ACCORDING TO THE SPECIFICATIONS SET BY THE DEPARTMENT HEADS. DETERMINES THE BEST POSSIBLE PRICE FOR THE DESIRED ITEMS, AND PLACES ORDERS FOR ALL NON-FOOD ITEMS. SCHEDULES DELIVERIES OF NON-FOOD ITEMS TO MEET THE OPERATIONAL NEEDS OUTLINED BY THE DEPARTMENT HEADS.
10 - MAINTAINS REGIONAL AND CORPORATE PURCHASING PROGRAMS AND ARRANGEMENTS. ENSURES ADHERENCE TO ALL CORPORATE PURCHASING POLICIES AND PROCEDURES SUCH AS REQUISITION PROCESS.
20 - CHECKS AND ENSURES APPROPRIATE LEVELS OF INVENTORIES ARE MAINTAINED TO MINIMIZE WASTE AND MAXIMIZE RATIO

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS
IN ADDITION TO PERFORMANCE OF THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, THIS POSITION MAY BE REQUIRED TO PERFORM A COMBINATION OF THE FOLLOWING SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS, WITH THE PERCENTAGE OF TIME PERFORMING EACH FUNCTION TO BE SOLELY DETERMINED BY THE SUPERVISOR BASED UPON THE PARTICULAR REQUIREMENTS OF THE HOTEL.
PERFORMS DUTIES OF STOREROOM RECEIVING CLERK, RECEIVING, FILLING REQUISITIONS, ROTATION OF STOCK AND ASSISTS IN MONTH-END INVENTORIES.
PERFORMS ANY GENERAL CLEANING TASKS USING STANDARD HOTEL CLEANING PRODUCTS TO ADHERE TO HEALTH STANDARDS.
AIDE IN PURCHASING FOR RELEVANT DEPARTMENTS I.E.: HOUSEKEEPING.

DUE TO THE CYCLICAL NATURE OF THE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY, AMBASSADORS MAY BE REQUIRED TO WORK VARYING SCHEDULES TO REFLECT THE BUSINESS NEEDS OF THE HOTEL.
UPON EMPLOYMENT, ALL AMBASSADORS ARE REQUIRED TO FULLY COMPLY WITH HILTON RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR THE SAFE AND EFFICIENT OPERATION OF HOTEL FACILITIES. AMBASSADORS WHO VIOLATE HOTEL RULES AND REGULATIONS WILL BE SUBJECT TO DISCIPLINARY ACTION, UP TO AND INCLUDING TERMINATION OF EMPLOYMENT.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:

1 YEAR PURCHASING AND INVENTORY EXPERIENCE AT A SIMILAR VOLUME HOTEL.
CULINARY EXPERIENCE PREFERRED.
SERVE SAFE CERTIFICATION PREFERRED.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

MOST WORK TASKS ARE PERFORMED INDOORS. TEMPERATURE IS MODERATE AND CONTROLLED BY HOTEL ENVIRONMENTAL SYSTEMS.
MUST BE ABLE TO SIT AT A DESK FOR UP TO 8 HOURS PER DAY. WALKING AND STANDING ARE REQUIRED THE REST OF THE WORKING DAY. LENGTH OF TIME OF THESE TASKS MAY VARY FROM DAY TO DAY AND TASK TO TASK.
MUST BE ABLE TO EXERT WELL-PACED ABILITY TO REACH OTHER DEPARTMENTS OF THE HOTEL ON A TIMELY BASIS.
MUST BE ABLE TO LIFT UP TO 15 LBS OCCASIONALLY.
REQUIRES GRASPING, WRITING, STANDING, VENDING, REPETITIVE MOTIONS, CLIMBING, LISTENING AND HEARING ABILITY AND VISUAL ACUITY.
TALKING AND HEARING OCCUR CONTINUOUSLY IN THE PROCESS OF COMMUNICATING WITH GUESTS, SUPERVISORS AND SUBORDINATES.
VISION OCCURS CONTINUOUSLY WITH THE MOST COMMON VISUAL FUNCTIONS BEING THOSE OF NEAR VISION AND DEPTH PERCEPTION.
REQUIRES MANUAL DEXTERITY TO USE AND OPERATE ALL NECESSARY EQUIPMENT.
MUST HAVE FINGER DEXTERITY TO BE ABLE TO OPERATE OFFICE EQUIPMENT INCLUDING COMPUTERS, FAX.
MACHINES, COPIERS, PRINTERS AND CALCULATORS. MUST BE ABLE TO TYPE 60 WPM.
WORK INSIDE 100% OF 40 HOURS.
