Job Description
The Academic Data & Reporting Analyst plays a pivotal role in transforming data into meaningful insights that strengthen student success, support program quality, and enhance institutional effectiveness. Serving as a data partner for Academic Affairs, this position leads internal and external reporting, supports academic assessment processes, and delivers high-quality analysis to faculty, staff, and leadership.
The individual in this role will work across teams, tools, and systems to ensure the accuracy, clarity, and usability of academic data. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, building effective data workflows, and helping others make data-informed decisions.
Essential functions include:
Extracting, compiling, analyzing, and presenting data for internal and external reporting needs
Maintaining organized documentation and ensuring secure storage and transmission of all records
Serving on the Assessment Team and supporting academic assessment activities, including program and unit review
Overseeing survey administration, analysis, and coordination with Institutional Effectiveness.
Collecting and reporting data within the Learning Management System (LMS)
Tracking and reporting operational and Workforce & Continuing Education (WCE) budget and revenue data
Conducting exploratory data analysis, regression modeling, and statistical inference using relevant software tools
Candidates selected for an interview will be required to complete skills assessments to ensure qualification for the role. The interview process will include Excel and data analysis assessments administered in person at the College's Test Center.
Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.

Required Education
Associate's Degree
Required Experience
A minimum of 1 year of related professional experience in a higher education setting is required, including statistical research, data extraction and analysis, and report creation.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Experience analyzing higher education data and working with complex institutional datasets
Skill in extracting, merging, cleaning, and transforming data from multiple databases for analysis and reporting
Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods and their appropriate applications
Experience designing, administering, and analyzing online surveys
Proficiency with business intelligence and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Argos)
Ability to write, understand, and troubleshoot SQL queries
Ability to collaborate with non-researchers to clarify data needs and define research questions
Strong communication skills, including the ability to translate complex analyses into clear, accessible summaries for diverse audiences
Ability to build and maintain effective, collaborative relationships across the College
Understanding of data governance, data hygiene best practices, and protocols for working with sensitive or confidential data
Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet multiple deadlines
Proficiency in descriptive and inferential statistics using tools such as SPSS, SAS, R, or Excel
Preferred Qualifications
Experience collecting data in a Learning Management System
Experience with Ellucian Banner or a similar ERP/SIS system
Experience with assessment, including program review, in an educational setting
Bachelor's degree or above in Data Analysis, Information Science, Data Science, Program Evaluation or related field of study.
Hours per Week 40 - 100%
General Weekly Work Schedule
Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Final schedule to be determined by the supervisor.
