The Role

Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.

Excellent communication, both written and verbal, and problem solving skills Critical thinking skills Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team (piping, machinery, outfitting, and/or electrical) Familiarity with SAP (mainly ZEIR preferred) Teamcenter/NX Knowledge of Visual Work Instructions (VWIs) Knowledge of the lost material process

Must Have

Bachelor's Degree and 0 years of relevant exempt experience.

Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Nice to Have

Technical Support for shipboard/shop trades in a waterfront environment to support New Construction. Ideal candidate shall have some waterfront experience and support the supervisor in a variety of tasks. Perform ship checks as well as interface with our customers which include the Project Office, Construction team, Navy, Trade Teams, and Supply Chain. E61 is looking for a Electrical Engineer 1 on this requisition that has experience in Ford Class new construction. However, candidates should have the willingness to adapt and step-up where needed in other disciplines, once trained.
