Responsibilities You will assist higher graded mobile equipment mechanics in disassembling and repairing major systems, components and complex operating mechanisms. You will diagnose, troubleshoot, remove, adjust, modify, repair or replace defective components in sub-systems. You will repair, overhaul, and rebuild attachments and other utility systems. You will disassemble diesel or gasoline engines as necessary and inspect repairs or replace such parts. You will repair equipment such as clutches, transmission systems, hydraulic systems, cooling systems electrical systems, booms and similar units. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: THE ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION. Your resume must show that you have the ability to perform common tasks including: 1. Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and evaluating heavy mobile construction and maritime equipment; 2. Maintaining, repairing, and overhauling heavy mobile equipment; and 3. Assembling and disassembling diesel and gasoline engines. Education Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments.
