DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Corrections General Industries Factory Foreperson, you will supervise manufacturing, production, processing, and services of an optical lab. You will instruct and train inmates in practices and methods, as well as oversee safe operation, maintenance, and repair of tools and equipment. You will also train inmate workers to use computer programs to complete daily operational reports and production logs. This role requires the ability to establish effective working relationships and strong communication skills to ensure inmates learn the standard optical principles used to manufacture products and services. In addition, you will evaluate all inmate work assignments, maintain training progress reports, and make quality improvement recommendations to improve output efficiency.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment, 40 hours per week Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $51,868.00 (before taxes). QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Three years of experience in the production of goods or services;or An associate degree in industrial technology, operations management, business administration, or a related field; and one year of work experience in the production of goods or services;or An equivalent combination of experience and training, which includes one year of work experience in the production of goods or services.

Other Requirements: Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. You must meet the PA residency requirement. For more information on ways to meet PA residency requirements, follow the link and click on Residency. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
