Hyatt Hotels Corporation seeks an enthusiastic Senior Data Scientist - Forecasting to join our Data Science team. In this role, you will design, build, and deploy predictive forecasting solutions that directly impact business planning and operational excellence across Hyatt's global portfolio.
You will own Hyatt's forecasting platform, leading end-to-end model development using statistical, machine learning, and deep learning techniques. You will also apply causal inference methods to identify business drivers, measure policy impacts, and support strategic decision-making. The Role
Own and lead the end-to-end development of Hyatt's forecasting platform, building scalable pipelines and advanced time series models for multi-segment and property-level demand, occupancy, and revenue forecasting, with full ownership of model selection, back-testing, deployment, and performance optimization in production.
Design, develop, and maintain anomaly detection to identify irregularities in forecasted and historical KPIs, enabling automated alerts and proactive issue detection.
Apply causal inference and causal graph methodologies to identify true performance drivers and generate actionable insights for decision-making.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, data, and business stakeholders, ensuring clear communication, seamless integration of data-driven solutions.
Monitor model performance in production, refining algorithms and processes to adapt to real-world data and evolving business needs.
Create and maintain detailed documentation for models, methodologies, and workflows to support team knowledge-sharing.
Conduct testing and validation of models to ensure robustness, scalability, and reliability in production environments.
Present data-driven insights, findings, and product outcomes to stakeholders in a clear, actionable manner.
Stay updated on the latest advancements in machine learning and optimization, integrating innovative techniques and tools into projects.
Mentor junior data scientists by providing technical guidance, reviewing work, and fostering their professional development.
Demonstrate a commitment to ethical data science, ensuring Hyatt's models and solutions are developed with fairness, transparency, and integrity
Qualifications:
Experience Required:
Master's degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or related field required; PhD preferred.
5 years of hands-on experience in predictive modeling, time series forecasting, causal inference, and anomaly detection.
Expertise in time series modeling, including trend, seasonality, stationarity, and autocorrelation (ACF/PACF), with proficiency in feature engineering and forecast validation using RMSE, MAE, MAPE, and SMAPE.
Proven experience with forecasting models such as ARIMA, SARIMA, Exponential Smoothing, Holt-Winters, Google TimeFM, and deep learning architectures (LSTM/RNN), including experience leveraging hybrid and ensemble modeling techniques for large-scale forecasting applications.
Strong expertise in causal modeling, including causal discovery (e.g., PCMCI, conditional independence tests) and causal inference methods (e.g., mediation analysis, linear models) to identify and quantify cause-and-effect relationships.
Experience developing and implementing anomaly detection systems using statistical or machine learning methods (e.g., Isolation Forest, LOF, autoencoders) to identify data irregularities and forecast deviations.
Expertise in Python (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-Learn, Statsmodels, TensorFlow, PyTorch) and SQL.
Experience in developing and deploying solutions in AWS with large datasets.
Experience working in Agile environments with DevOps and CI/CD best practices.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Experience Preferred:
Experience in automating data workflows using Apache Airflow (or equivalent orchestration tools).
Experience integrating external data sources such as STR market data, macroeconomic and market indicators.
Knowledge of hierarchical time series reconciliation, multi-segment forecasting.
Strong understanding of Finance forecasting - e.g., RevPAR, rooms sold, gross operating profit.
Experience designing scenario forecasting and what-if analysis tools.

The salary range for this position is $130,000 to $170,000. This position is also eligible to earn incentive awards and an annual bonus. The final pay rate/salary offered to the successful candidate will depend on experience, skill level and other qualifications for the role, as well as the location of the performance of work. Pay for the successful candidate will meet local requirements, including the local minimum wage rate.
