Description We are looking for a skilled Sr. Accountant with expertise in banking operations to join our team on a contract basis in Rockville, Maryland. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring accurate financial reporting and loan accounting processes. This position is ideal for a meticulous individual with experience in commercial lending and general ledger management.

Responsibilities:

Verify loan information for accuracy and compliance with bank policies and legal requirements.

Update core and ancillary systems to ensure precise loan reporting and daily reconciliations.

Review closing packages to confirm accurate coding and figures.

Prepare and input loan transactions into the accounting system, ensuring proper posting to general ledger accounts.

Manage daily loan general ledger reconciliations provided by the accounting department.

Track accounts payable invoices related to loans and resolve payment discrepancies.

Prepare and process lien releases and ensure timely upload of payoff documentation to the imaging system.

Update collateral records in the loan accounting system to reflect changes or releases.

Handle loan research, general ledger research, loan transactions, and corrections to meet department service-level agreements.

Assist in training team members and support workflow management during peak periods. Requirements - High School Diploma or equivalent education.

Minimum of six years of experience in commercial lending operations within a banking environment.

At least 1-2 years of experience managing loan general ledgers.

Solid knowledge of lending policies, banking procedures, and relevant regulations.

Proficiency in commercial loan transactions and practices.

Strong understanding of banking operations and general ledger processes.

Effective problem-solving skills with the ability to suggest and implement process improvements.

Experience working with auditors and participating in special projects.
