Brief Position Overview
The Service Team Lead ( STL ) manages a team of 3-6 financial analysts who deliver excellent fiscal support and analysis to various departments across the MSU Bozeman campus. The STL is a critical member of the larger Fiscal Shared Services ( FSS ) ecosystem that contributes to the development of coherent and effective fiscal processes and procedures while mentoring and developing a team of subject matter experts. The STL is a dynamic leader who provides their team with the skills and support to succeed.

Position Details
General Statement
Fiscal Shared Services ( FSS ) is composed of several service teams who provide
accounting support and customer service to departments across the MSU
Bozeman campus while collaborating closely with central University offices. Each
team is led by a Service Team Lead ( STL ) who enables their staff to perform a wide
variety of business processes such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and
financial reporting and analysis. The Service Team Lead supports, develops, and
mentors a team of experts; collaborates with colleagues across FSS on process
improvement; provides critical backup and support to maintain operational
consistency; and sets the tone for an enjoyable and rewarding working
environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Primary duties include:
Lead and manage a team of finance professionals, sustaining an effective, high-performing team that provides excellent customer service to client departments.
Ensure the smooth and efficient flow of work through the team and clear communications with client units, providing accurate services in a highly responsive manner.
Ensure accounting is compliant with state and federal rules, generally accepted accounting principles, governmental accounting, and financial reporting standards.
Research and make judgments and interpretations on policy and compliance questions with support from other team leads and management structure.
Ensure the quality of the team's work: auditing, reviewing, and approving reports, corrections, invoices, payments, and other transactions as needed.
Develop and lead training sessions for staff amongst the client user groups and provide direct support and training for new hires throughout the client user groups regarding accounting procedures.
Develop and maintain thorough documentation of procedures for the team.
Develop and maintain knowledge of client units sufficient to understand goals. Service to Clients
Provide excellent customer service in accordance with MSU's Service Excellence culture.
Provide accurate financial information to client units, assisting with questions, communications, transactions, reports, policy interpretations, etc. as needed.
Required Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a
related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
Progressively responsible experience in accounting or fiscal management.
Demonstrated leadership and management skills to successfully supervise staff.
Preferred Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Demonstrated experience in supervising staff, utilizing strong leadership and management skills.
Experience performing financial reporting and analysis, utilizingcomputerized accounting systems, spreadsheets, databases, and word-processing software.

Work effectively with a broad range of constituencies including students, staff, faculty, university administrators, funding agencies, and professional organizations.
Demonstrated project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Demonstrated clear, concise, and professional written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to clearly explain technical information to a non-technical audience.
Analytical skills to identify and assess potential opportunities to enhance the operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness of an organization.
