THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As an Accounting Assistant, you will provide clerical and accounting support for the Business Office, Inmate Accounting Section . You will perform bookkeeping duties, transfer inmate accounts between facilities, verify correct account balances, and issue final checks . You will make deposits into the Inmate General Welfare Fund (IGWF) checking account, r econcile the daily batch report, and research missing inmate account transactions. This role requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail to process inmate releases and transfers, provide account summaries, and post accounting data to ledgers, registers, and journals. In addition, you will inventory and manage inmate personal property, prepare daily and monthly reports, and answer inquiries from inmates, family, and staff regarding account issues.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Two years of experience performing bookkeeping or clerical accounting work; or
An Associate Degree in accounting or business administration including or supplemented by six credits of accounting.
Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Additional Requirements:
Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
