Reports To: Adult Education Director
Employment Status: Part Time -- 2 Days per week, 1st Shift
Days: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00am - 1:00pm (Teacher will also get paid for prep time)
FLSA: Non-Exempt
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Adult Basic Education / High School Equivalency (ABE/HSE) Instructor (Part Time) -- Aspire Program (Mansfield) will provide leadership for learning at the adult classroom level. Education delivery method is in-person and/or virtual distance education. This role will provide strong, student-centered leadership for adult learners in the classroom or virtual setting---empowering students to gain language skills, meet personal and professional goals, and work toward high school equivalency. The ABE/HSE Instructor must be compassionate, dynamic, and forward-thinking with a passion for adult education, cultural competency, and innovative teaching.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
A valid Ohio Teaching Certificate/License or a Bachelor's Degree
Valid teaching license or ability to obtain an Ohio Adult Education license
Experience in teaching adult education or a related field preferred.
Applicants with some college education will be considered but will be required to take an assessment of academic skills in reading, language, and math.
Demonstrated ability to build strong, respectful relationships with diverse learners
Successfully pass a B.C.I. and F.B.I. background check

Instruct adult learners in high school equivalency, college, and/or career readiness preparation (GED , WorkKeys, Accuplacer).
Deliver engaging, standards-based lessons in-person or virtually that are responsive to student needs and interest
Design and implement individualized learning plans and SMART goals with learners.
Maintain an inclusive, culturally responsive learning environment.
Use formative and summative assessments to monitor progress and inform instruction.
Integrate employability, digital, and career-readiness skills into daily instruction.
Support learners in navigating post-secondary transitions and workforce pathways.
Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
Creates an environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
Addresses the learning needs of students based on quality assessment data, both formative and summative.
Facilitates learning by setting clear goals for each lesson, unit, and project that align with curriculum objectives and college/career readiness standards. Ensures students understand these goals and can articulate them when asked.
Develop employability skills with their students that are needed to enter the workforce and for job advancement.
Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional technology, consistent with the needs and capabilities of the student groups involved.
Strives to implement by instruction and action the state of Aspires philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
