Overview
Bowhead seeks a Senior Network Engineer to join our team supporting NIWC Atlantic. The Senior Network Engineer will work directly with the client analyzing complex and unique technical support assignments and collaborate with software engineers, hardware engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and program analysts within a scaled agile environment.
This position is 100% onsite. No hybrid/flex or remote work schedules are permitted for this effort.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with cybersecurity, systems engineering, and the program management team to ensure robust, secure, and compliant network solutions that support mission objectives.
Design, implement, secure, and maintain complex network infrastructures.
Provide technical expertise in enterprise and tactical networking.
Design, deploy, and maintain server, storage, and network infrastructure to support business operations.
Design, configure, and maintain secure LAN/WAN, VPN, and wireless network infrastructures.
Implement and manage routing, switching, and network segmentation using Cisco, Juniper, or equivalent technologies.
Support classified and unclassified network environments (NIPRNet, SIPRNet, JWICS).
Perform network monitoring, performance tuning, fault isolation, and capacity planning.
Lead network modernization and migration initiatives as required.
Configure and maintain network firewalls, IDS/IPS, and access control lists to meet cybersecurity requirements.
Provide Tier III support for complex network issues.
Document architectures, configurations, and change management activities in accordance with DoD and organizational policies.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
COMPTIA Sec + or higher certification
7 years of experience in a Network Engineer Role.
Strong expertise with: Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls Routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) VLANs, QoS, VPN, MPLS, and network segmentation
Network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Splunk, Wireshark, etc.)
Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and work independently.
Experience with the Marine Corps Cyber Operations Group (MCCOG) a plus.
Experience with Commercial Solutions For Classified (CSFC) a plus.
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a Secret clearance.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift, move, and position equipment in both indoor and outdoor environments, including on uneven or natural surfaces.
Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
Must be able to lean, crouch, twist, bend, and squat as needed to inspect or analyze network infrastructure.
Must be able to work outdoors in deployed environments and perform duties in adverse weather conditions, including cold, rain, snow, and heat.
