Summary The primary purpose for this position is to supervise the Motor Vehicle Operators within the Veteran's Transportation Program who provide professional supportive transportation services to the Pittsburgh VA Healthcare System's (VAPHS) patient population throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, and the Tri-state area. Responsibilities The incumbent is the Supervisor of the Veteran's Transportation Service-Passenger Transportation Section directly supervising personnel on both University Drive and Heinz campuses and reports directly to the Mobility Manager. The incumbent is responsible for performing the following actions in the performance of their job but not limited to: Planning and scheduling work for subordinates Setting and re-arranging priorities and subordinates as needed on a daily, weekly, and/or monthly basis Maintaining and managing Time & Attendance for all assigned section personnel Administering performance plans and counseling to subordinates Giving advice to, counseling, or instructing employees on work and administrative matters Interviewing candidates for subordinate positions, recommending appointments, promotions, and reassignments Hearing and resolving complaints Organizing and reviewing the completion of all training requirements Developing Driver Training Programs, Identifying Training Needs, and Organizing Learning Events Developing training manuals, guides, and other educational resources that target tangible results and support the training objectives. Managing Onboarding Reviewing all Fixed Route Special Mode transports (i.e. Wheelchair Shuttle) and providing Trip Verification Conducting annual inventory of all Non-Expendable Property assigned Providing technical and supervisory guidance necessary to achieve the optimum use of service resources Assures that safety rules are properly adhered to within the section and during motor vehicle operations. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Work requires reaching, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls. Incumbent will be required to assist patients with a variety of medical conditions and/or disabilities. Associated duties require stooping, bending, lifting, climbing, and securing patients, oxygen, and wheelchairs with appropriate securing devices. Lifts and carries objects weighing up to 50 pounds and heavier. Must follow prescribed safety procedures using appropriate lifting methods and body mechanics for heavy lifting or moving of heavy objects. Must be able to drive for a minimum of a four-hour period. Education Additional Information Receiving Service Credit or Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee.
