This position is devoted to the maintenance of all Water Management sewer pump lift stations. Incumbents provide specialized technical knowledge and expertise in the preventative and corrective maintenance of lift stations and related equipment. Incumbents may coordinate and schedule the work assignments of others, ensuring quality control, mentor and train staff, and serve as an escalation point for complex problems. Decision-making is limited to organizing tasks for more complex technical repairs that include coordination of logistics and handling of unanticipated factors working within standard policies and procedures and within to meet established goals.
The person selected for this position will be responsible for repairing equipment, piping and facility components; welding equipment; ensuring equipment alignment; maintaining pump availability; maintaining inventory of critical repair parts to minimize downtime; serving in an on-call capacity; maintaining maintenance information in an electronic maintenance management system; obtaining quotes for repairs; overseeing facility maintenance and cleanliness of work areas; identifying and correcting safety concerns; overseeing and planning duties; this may include but not limited to, interacting with vendors and preparing reports; and serving as emergency standby responder on a rotating basis. May order parts, plan and schedule meetings, speak with technical representatives, via phone or in person, and work with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) representatives on various pieces of equipment.
Duties/Responsibilities
Conducts regular inspections and performs preventative and corrective maintenance along with replacement of critical equipment for the wastewater pumping stations. This includes equipment, piping, and facility components; visually inspects equipment function and ancillary parts; performs welding, equipment alignment, and pump maintenance
Assists with prioritizing and monitoring staff assignments; trains new staff; and ensures compliance with safety and applicable regulations, policies, and procedures
Maintains and verifies supply and parts inventory; obtains quotes from vendors, submitting information to management for approval; identifies and resolves safety issues; and coordinates the cleaning of work areas and removal of chemical spills
Prepares and maintains reports, records, and other documentation; compiles and submits information to maintenance management system; reviews work to ensure accuracy and completeness
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED, HiSET, TASC)
Four years of lift/pump station maintenance experience
Valid, unrestricted, North Carolina driver's license "or" if you currently have another states driver's license, must be willing and able to obtain a valid NC driver's license within 60 days of hire
NC Class B CDL with a tanker endorsement within six (6) months of hire (not required at time of hire)
Must be physically able to lift 80 lbs. occasionally, 50 lbs. frequently, and 20 lbs. regularly
Must be able to work week-long rotational Stand-by/Recall Duty & work during inclement weather
Additional Preferred Skills
