Job Description
Enterprise Data Governance (EDG) team works with all Business Lines to protect the company's data assets by providing governance and oversight on critical data and ensuring compliance with regulations.
The successful candidate will have a desire to learn, teach and develop skills. Strong communication and critical thinking skills are essential along with the ability to understand business, technology, reporting processes and identify gaps easily. In addition, a "can-do" personal style/attitude, strong work ethic and attention to detail are also critical to success in this role. The environment is dynamic and fast paced and requires a candidate to have a strong sense of urgency and the ability to pivot across multiple tasks.
Primary Responsibilities
Provides oversight on risk assessment for data issues
Evaluates and challenges quality and completeness of resolution plans for data issues drafted by business lines
Develops key data risk metrics and reports to governance councils / committees
Provides leadership on thematic analysis of data issues and drives remediation of identified themes
Reviews data controls periodically for effectiveness and design
Collaborates with business lines on risk management initiatives, audit findings, and special projects
Engages with other teams within data governance community for driving continuous improvement in related governance processes (such as data quality validations, lineage, metadata etc.)
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
Seven or more years of experience in data governance strategy, planning, and policy
Preferred Skills/Experience
Experience in driving data quality initiatives in banking / related financial services industry
Prior experience managing / governing data issues
Ability to work across multiple business lines and lines of defense to drive adoption of policy requirements; Robust relationship building and negotiation skills;
Working knowledge of risk control framework
Thorough knowledge of Data Management / Governance and Risk/Compliance/Audit competencies
Experience working in a regulatory environment, i.e. banking or financial markets
Strong sense of ownership, ability to work autonomously, prioritize based on tactical and strategic objectives and escalate as needed
Strong analytical, process facilitation and project management skills; ability to delegate and influence team members and Business Line key stakeholders
Effective presentation, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Quantitative Analytics background; experience developing data quality thresholds
The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $126,820.00 - $149,200.00
