13612BRJob Description:We are seeking a driven and hands-on Manufacturing Manager to lead manufacturing Production and Engineering at our growing Bessemer, AL facility. This individual will play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence, process efficiency, and continuous improvement while overseeing production, labor management, equipment commissioning, and safety.
The ideal candidate brings a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent Operational Excellence background, along with leadership skills and a deep understanding of manufacturing systems, data-driven performance management, and team development.
This role combines hands-on technical expertise with advanced leadership responsibilities, ensuring seamless setup, commissioning, and optimization of equipment and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise all daily manufacturing operations, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently met.
Manage key plant activities including construction, equipment installation, commissioning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Hire, train, and develop production and technical staff to build a strong, engaged operations team.
Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational discipline.
Lead Lean and Six Sigma initiatives to eliminate waste, reduce variation, and optimize production flow and cycle time.
Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement data-driven solutions to improve takt time, yield, and resource utilization.
Identify improvement opportunities across processes, systems, and layout to drive measurable cost, safety, and quality gains.
Champion 5S, visual management, and standard work implementation throughout the facility.
Support Capital and expenses management.
Specify and order the tools and equipment that are required to run the manufacturing process.
Support equipment setup, commissioning, troubleshooting and ensuring technical readiness of production lines.
Collaborate with engineering and design teams to validate new product and process introductions.
Support proto@type builds.
Create in-house and also collaborate with vendors to create fixtures, workstations, and proto@type parts.
Ensure robust preventive maintenance and troubleshooting practices are in place to minimize downtime.
Maintain a zero-incident safety culture and ensure adherence to OSHA and company safety standards.
Drive continuous safety training, audits, and proactive hazard elimination.
Develop and maintain performance dashboards to monitor production, cost, and quality metrics.
Maintain accurate production records and operational reports.
Provide transparent updates to leadership on plant performance, improvement progress, and risk mitigation plans.
Lead building upgrades, power, and utilities installation, coordinating with contractors and vendors.
Establish and manage an innovation lab to accelerate learning and design validation.
Develop training programs for new hires on equipment operation and safety.
Address and resolve operational and production issues promptly.
Act as the right hand to the plant leader, supporting strategic decision-making.
Job Requirements:
Proven experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 7+ years in progressively responsible roles (including supervisory and technical positions).
Engineering bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or certifications preferred.
Advanced understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment commissioning, and process optimization.
Strong background in lean manufacturing, OPEX, Six Sigma, continuous improvement, and 5S standards.
Exceptional leadership, team management, and mentoring skills.
Hands-on, proactive approach with the ability to lead from the floor.
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Preferred Skills:
Hands-on experience with sheet metal fabrication (rollforming, bending, cutting) preferred.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication abilities.
Proven record of leading large-scale operational transformations and delivering measurable results.
Demonstrated expertise in cycle time and takt time management.
