SMBSC seeks a Mechanical Engineer (Design & Manufacturing) in Renville, MN. POSITION DUTIES: The Mechanical Engineer (Design & Manufacturing) will maximize efficiency and quality of harvest, storage and processing through investments in maintenance and equipment upgrades; environmental projects, effective partnering, innovation, training and uncompromising safety. Collaborate in the research, design, evaluation, installation, operation, maintenance of systems and processes to maximize efficiencies. Test equipment such as steam and pressure vessels, tanks, filters, pumps, and conveying systems to improve current use. Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions. Develop and test models of alternate designs and processing methods using software like SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Beam Boy. Assist with reviewing existing structures for new equipment placement or equipment modification. Collaborate with the engineering department for the design of new structures, including but not limited to foundations, superstructure and support framing. Confer with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, diagnose and resolve system malfunctions as well as provide technical information. Present information, both oral and written, to a variety of audiences including: technical formal reports, informal correspondence, construction drawings and small group presentations. Coordinate with safety and management personnel to ensure maintenance procedures, service schedule and supply of materials are on-hand to maintain machines and equipment. Work on factory CapEx projects by completing engineering drawings and layouts and generating the scope of work for contractors to generate the total budget for the projects. Work on engineering work orders. Annual salary between: $93,683 - $99,666. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Requires at least Bachelor s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Architectural HVAC Engineering, or a related field. Must possess 4 years of experience with all of the following: (a) performing engineering calculations related to thermodynamics and heat transfer;; (b) monitoring and testing complex electrical equipment and heavy machinery including HVAC systems; (c) operating, maintaining, and testing mechanical and electrical systems within a manufacturing plant facility environment; (d) conducting planned and unplanned maintenance and modification projects using factory CMMS systems; (e) developing and testing models for alternative design and processes to increase efficiency; and (f) suggesting and developing engineering solutions according to system requirements to increase plant performance. Experience may be gained concurrently.
