Some of what you'll be doing:
As an Aviation Facilities & Infrastructure Engineer III - Mechanical, you will support continuous reliable operations of mechanical systems throughout asset planning, design, construction, commissioning, operations, maintenance, and emergency responses.
You will support a variety of mechanical systems, including fire sprinklers and suppression systems, heating/ventilation/air conditioning, active smoke control, plumbing, and other specialty mechanical systems. You will work with fans, pumps, motors, boilers, chillers, heat pumps, piping, controls and related accessories.
You will coordinate, plan, and implement facility wide systems at the infrastructure level.
You will support development of information through research and collecting data.
You will conduct asset management functions such as inventory, condition assessment, replacement cost estimates, and evaluating demand versus capacity.
You will identify and develop renewal and replacement projects.
You will perform calculations and use facilities-related computer software.
You will implement aviation infrastructure/facility system plans and long-term vision at small to medium project levels to meet growth, institutional initiatives, and regulatory requirements.
You will perform appropriate risk analysis and develop contingency plans for unexpected problems that can have a significant impact on assigned projects.
You will prepare presentations and memos for leadership to explain planning initiatives.
You will lead development of preventative maintenance programs for operations and maintenance of mechanical infrastructure to maintain aviation operations and maximize life cycle of systems.
You will provide recommendations for corrective maintenance repairs.
You will proactively support emergency preparedness and responses to ensure business continuity.
You will develop, maintain, and govern mechanical aviation design guidelines and standards for facility and infrastructure.
You will coordinate with planning and capital development departments to ensure program schedule aligns with available life cycle expectancy of systems, SEA Century Agenda and sustainability goals, regulatory requirements and aviation growth demands.
You will evaluate project design drawings for capital and expense projects for conformance to standards and specifications and coordination with other capital projects and expansion of existing infrastructure.
You will conduct construction administration for capital projects including submittal reviews, Request for Information (RFI) responses, site observation, construction meetings, and punch walks around the airport and airfield.
Who you are:
Experienced - You have eight (8) years of experience in system design, construction, or commissioning facilities using CAD/BIM. A bachelor's degree in engineering may be substituted for four (4) years of experience. You also have an Engineer in Training (EIT) designation.
Desired - We hope you have a bachelor's degree in engineering, and a Professional Engineering license in Mechanical Engineering or Fire Protection Engineering issued from the State of Washington.

Knowledgeable - You have strong technical knowledge in mechanical systems, engineering concepts, principles, designs, standards, practices, construction, testing, commissioning, activation, maintenance and appropriate codes and standards.
What else you need to know:
Driver's License - You will need a valid Washington State Driver's License, or the ability to obtain one, to travel locally to project sites located around the airport and airfield.
Work Schedule - Your normal work schedule will be Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role. Periodic work during evenings or weekends may be required.
Work Environment - This work will take place in a hybrid/in-office setting at Management's discretion. This role requires a minimum of three days in the office each week. You will also visit mechanical/electrical spaces, utility tunnels, rooftops, active construction sites, and outdoor areas around the airport and airfield. These sites and facilities include locations near operating equipment such as boilers, chillers, fans, pumps, baggage handling equipment, tugs, and aircraft.
Washington State Residency Requirement - Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
Security Requirements - As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance. You will also be required to obtain a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) Customs Seal within 30 days of hire.
