Position Overview:
The Director, Software Engineering, Enterprise Services Data will lead Software Engineering for RTX's Enterprise Data, Analytics, AI and DevSecOps platforms.

This role will have overall accountability for defining technical vision, managing and developing software engineering teams, ensuring quality, security, ease of maintenance, compliance, automation, and operational rigor is built into the software development life cycle. The leader will be hand-on with the technical expertise to lead the design and build of highly complex systems that span multiple business units and consist of a variety of commercial software, open source and RTX IP.
What You Will Do:
Lead software engineering strategy for platform services and solutions
Establish a best-in-class software engineering culture through our core values, behaviors, and outcomes
Define software standards and use of frameworks and SDKs
Build quality, security, maintenance, compliance, automation, and operational rigor into the software development life cycle
Build and manage multiple software development teams and establish the processes and practices to operate as a cohesive software -development organization
Establish goals and realize benefits of centralized coordination while enabling decentralized execution and autonomy
Balance short-term and long-term goals to meet business objectives
Participate in the development of proto@types, tools, frameworks, or production level code
Measure software KPIs and drive adoption of AI software development tools
Develop short term and midterm talent strategy through use of employees, contractors, and managed services
Enable and drive cross-BU collaboration and reuse of software
Be highly visible in applicable RTX-wide Councils and evangelize ES services and best practices
Drive change to achieve technology goals
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 14 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 12 years experience
14+ years demonstrated experience in building highly scalable and complex software systems
10+ years demonstrated experience in defining software engineering strategy
10+ years demonstrated experience in building and deploying software using cloud native & Kubernetes infrastructure
10+ years demonstrated experience in building high performing software development teams
5+ years demonstrated experience in working with AI/ML cloud related services such as SageMaker, etc.
5+ years demonstrated experience in building quality, security, compliance, etc. into the software development life cycle

Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed

The salary range for this role is 176,000 USD - 352,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
