Job Summary:

As a supervisor with Keystone Ski Patrol, you will oversee day-to-day operations, manage team tasks and ensure that employees are appropriately performing their assigned work. This is a management role with Vail Resorts. A key element of this position is to oversee the efficient, effective performance of the team. Success in this role is measured by the ability to work proactively, with a positive attitude, in a dynamic physical and mental environment that requires emotional awareness, a high degree of physical fitness, embracing change, holding oneself and others accountable while maintaining a continuous focus on customer service and the safety of our employees and guests.

Job Responsibilities:
Staff Management
Be a proponent of and convey the Vail Resorts vision, mission and values; actively participate in maintaining a culture of excellence, equality and collaboration
Conduct performance management in a proactive and prompt manner
Understand and work within the bounds of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)
Facilitate training and support team members in compliance with Vail Resorts standards and Keystone Ski Patrol protocols
Conduct mid-season and end of season reviews with comprehensive documentation
Evaluate team performance metrics, ensuring quality and efficiency are maintained
Conduct routine inspections to confirm compliance with internal and external standards and protocols
Document and report any incidents or deviations from protocol to the Patrol Manager(s) or Patrol Director
Plan for, coordinate and lead meetings
Ensure proper scheduling across all four peaks
Manage and minimize overtime for line level and self
Ensure all team members adhere to company policies, industry regulations, and safety guidelines
Conduct regular team meetings to communicate objectives, share updates, and foster a collaborative environment
Supervise training and support team members in compliance with Vail Resorts standards and Keystone Ski Patrol protocols
Provide guidance and direction to less experienced patrollers
Recruit, hire, train and validate qualified ski patrol candidates
Ensure that all patrollers maintain skills commensurate with their designation (Entry, Intermediate, Advanced, Specialist)
Ensure all staff work within the scope of practice commensurate with their level of certification
Operations
Oversee, direct and manage daily operations of ski patrol, ensuring that all tasks are completed in a timely and satisfactory manner
Perform as a Resource Manager and effectively utilize patrollers as needed
Serve as a liaison between Patrol and Mountain Dispatch
Coordinate with fellow supervisors to ensure patrol coverage across all four peaks; share and reallocate resources as needed
Perform as a Search and Rescue coordinator
Perform as a Lift Evacuation Coordinator
Maintain technical skills and continue to perform operational ski patrol duties, to include patient assessments, running toboggans and housekeeping on the mountain with a "patroller's eye" (signage, boo, rope lines, etc.)
Monitor daily workflows, assigning tasks and managing resources to meet operational needs
Oversee winter mountain setup and maintenance, including signage, trail closures, rope lines, and padding
Supervise planning and actively participate in team trainings, to include fall refresher and mid-season refresher
Track and analyze team performance data, creating detailed reports for management
Budget Oversight
Maintain a budget for your specific team
Maintain awareness of costs to the business
Continuous Improvement
Proactively look for and identify areas where the Patrol can improve
Recommend process improvements based on data insights and team feedback to the Patrol Manager(s) and Patrol Director
Communication and Collaboration
Ensure open and clear communication regarding operational goals, expectations, and updates with team members
Collaborate with other departments to ensure cross-functional alignment and smooth operations
Compliance
Ensure departmental adherence to all Company, local, state and federal regulations
Guest Experience Satisfaction
Remain focused on guest satisfaction and ensure that Ski Patrol provides a high level of customer service with all guest interactions
Safety
Lead and facilitate a culture of continuous risk assessment and re-assessment that promotes operational changes consistent with evolving conditions
Empower all members of the team to use good judgment and make decisions regarding their personal safety, as well as that of other employees and guests
Union Relations
Foster a positive relationship with the union
Participate in grievance meetings with the Patrol Director or designee
Problem-Solving
Act as the first point of contact for resolving team or guest-related issues, ensuring timely and satisfactory resolutions; escalate as needed and always follow-through
Address operational challenges promptly by identifying bottlenecks and implementing effective solutions
Establish and maintain positive intra- and interdepartmental relationships
Establish and maintain positive relationships with Medical Director and Emergency Urgent Care staff
Maintain a current OEC, EMT-B or higher medical certification
Maintain all skills of an Advanced Ski Patroller
Perform other duties as assigned

The expected pay range is $34/hr - $37/hr. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
